Had a squib in my Gen3 19. Haven’t had a chance to called Glock yet, as they are closed. Definitely a squib round, ammo was WWB value packs from Wal-Mart. Barrel has a slight bulge. My buddy shooting it kept all his appendages. Frame and slide looks fine. Just need a new barrel, pretty sure Glock will take care of the situation when I give em a call tomorrow. But here are some pics:
I hate to say it but I’m afraid this ones on the ammo manufacturer. Not Glock. A squib, Q-balled out by the next round would have done that to any stock fighting pistol barrel and I can’t see how that would be Glock’s fault.
Oh yes definitely the ammo manufacturer’s fault. Just calling Glock to see how they want to take it. Just bad luck. At least it didn’t happen to any of my HK’s, I might have a harder time with CS ;).
Squib did cycle the action. On the second round, the bulge in the barrel did not allow the case to extract. Yea, my buddy is fortunate to come out unharmed. We didn’t really try to clear the gun till the end of the day as he just used my P30 for the rest of the day. It was locked up pretty good till I slammed it back into battery against a fence post, fired it a couple times to make sure there wasn’t a live round and disassembled it. That’s when we saw the barrel. It was a bad day, but not as bad as it could have been.
I ALMOST had that happen to me except it was with one of my own reloads. Luckily my careless reloading mistake didn’t ruin my gun (or hand) as the bullet stuck partially down the barrel was still close enough to the chamber that the next round wasn’t able to fit and the gun wouldn’t go into battery.
Exactly how it should happen. Which is what I will do if I can get a reach of Glock during open business hours. I called them about 20 min after they closed today.
