This is a short video I made while playing around one day at Serbu Firearms. Mark Serbu had an old DLSR with high frame rate capability laying around and we decided to play around with it. The resolution is not HD when running at 1,000FPS on a camera that old. The normal speed footage you see is my Nikon filming with a wide angle lens and therefore is recorded in 1080p. That being said my Nikon while most likely 10 years newer doesn’t even come close to a 1000FPS frame rate.

It was helpful to see the recoil booster assembly operation on the Innovative Arms Shepard 45 suppressor. (Note how how long it took the slide to go into full battery) This operation is the same across all brands and designs of recoil boosters (nielsen devices). This enables a browning type action to unlock and cycle by negating the forces/weight of the added suppressor weight on the end of the barrel. This suppressor was very quiet and I was surprised by just how well it suppressed 9mm and 45acp (45acp footage was washed out). The tone was great! But of course it wasn’t until we expended all the ammo I brought (HPR Suppressor Specific) that I found out I never turned my Rode stereo microphone on, DOH! So I dubbed music over the real time footage as there was no audio collected.

It was also neat to see how consistent the ejection pattern of the Crosshill Technologies upper was. It was mesmerizing in slow-motion.

I also noticed the footage illustrated the controlled recoil of the Innovative Gunfighter Solutions custom G17 and how the undercut trigger guard helped the gun sit low in my hand and allow a quick rapid fire string. Even though I was shooting as fast as I could to keep the slow-motion video length to a minimum, I could still pickup the RMR dot as we were filming.

All in all the day turned out to be a success and I hope you all like the video. Depending on the feedback I’ll do more videos like this in the future and work on better lighting (you need a TON for high speed) and I’ll record my other suppressors and hosts.

Shit happens, I forgot to put eye pro back on inbetween shots. It happens. My eyes, my mistake.

It does. Just had mine heal from forgetting to put eyes back on after a reload with a LMT MWS with a concrete wall on ejection side. Luckily my eyelid caught most of the force, but my eyeball did have a dent in it and was lucky it didn’t break the globe or worse. It took several weeks to heal and it’s still pink where the injury occurred.

Yea, I didn’t mean to come across as a safety nazi, but after having a small pistol kaboom I cringe when I see it. I had actually shot some without protection earlier and luckily put it on before the kb. Just a friendly reminder.

Back on topic, I’d love to see more if you can access the equipment in the future. I love slow mo!

I’ll see if I can borrow the camera and film outside against my white vinyl fence. We had two LED light pods setup and even with over 10,000 lumens we needed more light lol.
