Are these two generations dimensionally similar, outside of rail and grooves? The essence of the question is: would a holster made for Gen3 Glock hold Gen2 Glock securely?
I have noted that several kydex holsters, even the Glock sport/combat holster that all have been fine with my 2nd Gen G19’s are extremely tight with the 3rd gen G19.
The leather ones are not a problem due to the leathers ability to give a little more. In fact,I would not want to attempt a draw with the 3rd Gen. with some of them. I’m old school,so I prefer leather anyway for myself and my own needs.
On the flipside all these are older and were made before the 3rd gens came out,so if you buy a currently made one it should be fine. The gen 2 should be secure, not that much of a difference but with the kydex’s I have would slow the draw too much with the 3rd gen.
My concern is a reverse. If gen2 holsters are tight with Gen3 pistols, I am worried that Gen3 holsters won’t have adequate retention with Gen 2 pistols.
Here’s a gen 2 in a well used FIST holster boned to fit a Gen 3.
So,as stated,I don’t think you’ll have a problem. As you can see the holster holds the pistol well in upside down position.
Cool, thanks.
