(Tampa, FL) – Leading firearms manufacturer GLOCK continues its outstanding support of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation with a check presentation to SOWF President/CEO John Carney at the 2010 SOFIC trade show in Tampa, Florida.
Presenting the check for $100,000 is GLOCK Vice-President Josh Dorsey. Dorsey says GLOCK is proud to support SOWF. "GLOCK’s focus remains on assisting those who go in harm’s way to defend the freedom that we all currently enjoy,” said Josh Dorsey, GLOCK Inc. Vice President. "Therefore, GLOCK welcomes the opportunity to contribute to SOWF’s noble cause of reducing the individual soldier’s trepidation as they cross the line of departure by ensuring their loved ones will be cared for if they should fall.”
Accepting along with Colonel Carney is Taniya Wright. Taniya’s father James Wright died in a training accident in 1987 while serving as a member of the U.S. Army’s Special Forces. SOWF covered Taniya’s expenses at the University of South Florida, leaving Taniya free to concentrate on her studies. She graduated from USF in 2006 with a degree in Mass Communications and now works as an associate producer at Newschannel 8 TV in Tampa.

I recieved an email newsletter from the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and learned of this. I have been contemplating a couple different handguns for my next purchase but after reading this I am certain it will be another Glock product. I am a fan of anyone who supports our fallen warriors in such a big way!

Side note: I’m sure there are many companies who make donations to organizations such as this one. If anyone has info on a company who does I would like to hear about it.

I do not have the minimum 200 post count to post in the GD section or this would have been there. Please feel free to move if necessary.

That is very cool.

Absolutely. So…is it just a coincidence I also saw a picture of the gen4 G19 for the first time today or something more?

I know there is a lot posted on the interweb about what a shitty company Glock is, how their customer service sucks and how they aren’t made in the US (we’ll save all that for another thread) but Glock donates a lot of money to foundations like this one for both military and law enforcement. I can go back through 10 years worth of Glock Annuals and find at least one article in each (often times more than one) where they ponied up big chunks of coin for a worth while foundation.

A lot of people bad mouth them but they are never absent when it comes to charities for those that protect the citizens of this country.

I have always held glock in high regard

$100K/year. And my two complete rebuilds for free under the “inspect and upgrade” program is pretty good customer service. Considering they don’t get a lot of practice at it like some. :stuck_out_tongue:

They are a great company, with very good customer service, and an evolving product line. This just reinforces my impressions.

I understand where those people are coming from too. I often go out of my way or spend more money than I have to to buy American made products (like I’m sure many here do). However, no matter where the company is based or where they are made the fact remains that their products are in use by a s!*t ton of the Military/LE people in our country. Glock is smart enough to understand that and is doing something to give back to those who have been so instrumential in their success. As an added bonus to them, its also a great marketing strategy. I know of at least one more gun they have sold because of it.

edited to say I’m not disagreeing with you M4arc. Those are just the thoughts running through my head. Thank you for replying as well as everyone else.

Just another reason Ill keep giving my money to Glock!

Good to hear the industry giving back. Wish this type of news made headlines.
