GSSF price is the same as LE pricing … at least it was until the GSSF program changed (I think in April of this year). I would say it is still the same.
GSSF membership gets you one discounted pistol per year. A GLOCK Armorer’s Certificate gets you two additional pistols per year … so that’s three total per year so long as your AC and GSSF membership are in good standing/current.
For GSSF purchases you used to have to request a certificate/coupon and have it mailed to you. You took the certificate to the closest dealer off the list (or ordered through the factory to be send to your FFL if you are too far away from an authorized dealer) and bought your pistol. Now, you show your GSSF membership card. There are more dealers than before on the list.
As an Armorer I have simply taken a copy of my AC as proof and haven’t had any issues.
I faxed in my GSSF application in this morning and got a GSSF member number within the hour.
This the only price list i’ve seen. On the same website, the LE pricing is about $20-$25 lower. It does say suggested pricing but I don’t know. http://www.edspublicsafety.com/gssf.html
I also saw a dealer list and it listed OMB as one of the distributers for quite a few states including MO, so I don’t know what the process is for purchase either. They’re in KS which is a 35 minute drive for me. I’m gonna email GSSF to find out.
That’s actually one of the closest authorized dealers to me and prob where I will be making my next purchase. The GSSF pricing via your link is definitely the new pricing for 2010 as it shows the date and is the same as I was sent earlier this year. The LE pricing is what the GSSF was in 2009. There is no date on that list on Ed’s site so not sure if it is current for 2010 or still the old 2009 prices.
The GSSF and LE pricing for sure used to be the same. Not sure now. In an e-mail exchange with Alan Ramsey of GLOCK Professional he indicated the GSSF price was increased over 2009 but the dealer network was expanded and the process made easier (no certificate/coupon required). He made no mention of LE pricing as I’m not a LEO. Now I’m really curious.
Can any LEOs out there confirm the 2010 LE pricing?
Somewhere on the GSSF website or the dealer list it has a footnote. I think you have to order the pistol through OMB and send them your GSSF info, pay them, etc. and they will ship it to the nearest FFL to you. You will prob be charged a transfer fee on your end by your local dealer. Unfortunately, it kind of negates much of the savings of the program.
As for the armorers course, did you learn anything new besides knowing how to detail strip the gun and basic diagnostics? The instructor is going to be Joel Hodges.
I think if you have ZERO dealers on the list in your area you order direct from the factory and it gets shipped to your FFL. That would probably work out to your advantage anyway as GLOCK doesn’t jack you on shipping charges. I think they only charge $15 or something nominal.
In an effort to better serve our members, we’ve made some changes to our original Pistol Purchase Program. We have greatly expanded the number of participating dealer locations and GSSF Members may purchase one GLOCK pistol per year at a discounted price by showing a current membership card to that dealer. NO CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED, just your membership card showing current membership in GSSF! New pricing is also in effect. These changes should reduce the waiting periods involved, allow better access to our participating dealers and eliminate most transfer fees while making the entire process more convenient for our members.
Also … I contacted Ed’s re: LE pricing vs GSSF pricing. The LE pricing is same as it was before so the GSSF price is now about $25 more per gun than LE pricing. O well.
