Glock 35

I’m getting ready to buy a 40 cal Glock. In the past I’ve owned a Kimberly Custom and the SA XD45 Service.

I think the Glock 35 has a great set of features.

  • its a Glock
  • improved ballistics
  • improved sight radius
  • lighter trigger
  • extended mag release

Am I missing something?

The 35 and the 34 are great pistols for their intended purpose in my opinion. They double well for house defense and duty pistols, too.
I have a 17 that I am strongly considering trading or selling for a 34.I don’t think you’re missing a thing.
Also… I love the sig line.I may need to borrow it.

What do you plan on using it for?

The ballistics of .40SW aren’t really head and shoulders above 9mm these days. G34s are a bit more common and the ammo is cheaper. I recommend you consider that as well.

If I was shooting USPSA Limited again, the G35 would be at the top of the list.
I was at VA Arms a while ago and played with a Gen4 G34 and had to remind myself several times that I had already spent more than I needed to on pistols. Beside that, I had no clear application for it.
If it fits a need, it is a very good choice, but so is the S&W M&P Pro, and the .40 Smiths are a bit better thought of than the .40 Glocks.

This will be my only handgun.

Most everyone in my circle of influence is.running a Glock 40 cal. So, being able to share ammo and swap magazine is very important for me.

So as I read that you are open to any pistol as long as it is a Glock, and as long as it is a .40. In that case, the 35 is a great blaster. I just sold mine, not beacuse I didn’t like it, but simply because I didn’t shoot it.

Here’s a buddy of mine shooting the FAST with a 35:

Just beware, previous gen mags and Gen4 magazines are not interchangable, so unless everyone is getting Gen4, or everyone is using a Gen3 or prior, it’s will not work well.

F2S,

I thought the mags would interchange except the older mags will not work if you reverse the mag catch. My understanding is as long as you leave it alone, they will swap fine.

Agreed.
I should have but that in the initial post, but it was an afterthought anyway. Thanks for the catch and clarification.

I have a Gen3 model 35 with 102,000 rounds thru it (documented). Over the last 10 years it has been used for IPSC, IDPA, and classes. Other than an occasional spring change and cleaning, it’s good to good and still shoots tight groups at 25 yards. Only thing I changed was sights. All of my Glocks wear Heinie Straight Eight Slanto Pro night sights.

As mentioned before, unless you need to shot 40S&W for IPSC and meeting major PF, I’d go with the 34 and shoot 9mm.

As far as Smith 40’s being better, I personally would disagree as my old war horse 35 has performed while I’ve seen many Smiths, both the old Sigma’s and the new iteration of the Sigma, the M&P, choke and puke at matches and classes.

YMMV

Are you going to carry it?

If this is literally going to be the only handgun you own I would pick the Glock 23 (as long as you are still sticking w/ .40).

I would be more than comfortable shooting my Glock 19 in IDPA or IPSC. I have done so before.

I have been carrying a 35 for the last six years. Its been to several courses and my training gun gets shot almost weekly. I have tried to go back to a 1911 but keep finding the 35 in my holster when I leave the house. Parts are easier to come by than other poly guns, and I have had no issues with my .40’s and weapons mounted lights. My guns all have Vicker’s mag releases ( a must have for me) and 3.5lb connectors. I change my sights out a lot. Right now I have Dawson FO and Heinie rear.

No carry. I live in Illinois.

:frowning:

My new Limited gun will be a Glock 35 Gen4. Im picking one up this week. I’m unhappy with the accuracy of my M&P Pro .40 5" gun even with a Storm Lake SS match barrel. If the G35 Gen4 is anywhere near as accurate as my G22 Gen4 & G23 Gen4 I’ll be quite happy. I’m going to use Ameriglo Defoor sights and Dawson +5 mag extensions.

Oh. Sad.

Well, then frankly, a G35 sounds like a good idea. I believe summit gunbroker had one for very cheap recently.

Hey I live in IL, if you don’t like it let me know I’d probably buy it from you.

You’ll be happy.

Maybe, maybe not.

I used to carry my G35 IWB in a Summer Special style holster, never had an issue with concealing that gun. Noted instructor Tom Givens of Rangemaster in Memphis also EDCs a G35 and highly recommends that gun over his previous 1911s.

Thanks for all the responses. Gen4 35 looks like the way to go.

That’s about all your miss

Doesn’t the slide come already milled out?
