Glock 26?

Been thinking about getting a Glock 26 for carry, envisioning some scenarios where that’s about the biggest thing I can sneak by with due to clothing, activity, whatever.

Anything peculiar about these little guys I should be aware of? What kind of pricing should I keep an eye out for, do they tend to go for less/more than other Glock models (lightly used)?

Thanks.

I bought one for “summer” carry; when I wear shorts and t-shirts and don’t have a lot of time to plan proper carry attire. It works very well for my needs and I found I carried it more often than I originally planned on.

I don’t shoot it as well as I do my G19 but I don’t shoot it that often either. It goes bang everytime but it’s not something I could shoot at a class or IDPA match.

For me, it’s a very good CCW when concealability is priority #1.

I think I paid $575 for mine with factory NS. I bought mine new because I got tired of trying to find a used one. I don’t see them on the used market all that often and when I do the seller usually wants too much for them.

Thanks, that’s kind of what I expected to hear. My friend in TX has one and says he has ended up carrying it almost exclusively, but I wanted some more opinions.

There’s one local that’s supposedly NIB unfired for $475 (no NS) but just saving on paying the sales tax around here makes it worth it. You’re right, the few I’ve seen for sale seem to always have a high asking price, relative to other used Glocks, but I haven’t seen enough to know if that was a trend or not, hence the question.

LOKNLOD,

I don’t think you will be disappointed at all. I really like my G26. I used to have a G27 years ago as well and it was a good little shooter. It probably can’t be beat for concealability.

There was one other thing that really carried a lot of weight in my decision to buy a G26 and that was compatability with my other Glocks. Since my G19 is my primary CCW, practice, training, and class (when work and wife allow me the time) gun I thought it was great that I could use some of the same holsters, parts and mags. For instance I can carry my G26 but use a G19 mag as a spare. My G19 Milt Sparks holsters work perfectly for my G26 and I have plenty of spare parts on hand if needed.

I also liked that the trigger pull and grip diameter were the same. I don’t like how my pinky finger hangs out in space but it’s a trade off for concealability.

If you carry concealed and already have one of the larger Glock 9mms (G17, G19, G34) I think the G26 makes a ton of sense.

The G26 is a great concealed carry gun. I paid $509 for my last one and then added TFO’s. I carry the G26 , G19 and play with the G17 and G34. My primary carry is a G30 but I do not feel under gunned with either the G26 or G19. If Glocks fit your hand, they are great to go!!

You guys are nailing my reasoning on the head.

I’ve got a 34, and a 17. My wife has a 17, and it’s her only gun so it’s all she’s familiar with (she does shoot it pretty well, we’re working on getting her and my buddy’s wife into a women’s class together). We’re still not sure of all the details of how she’ll carry, but I’m leaning towards adding a G19 and G26 to the “arms pool” and then we’ll have some choices for different situations without having to deal with different platforms.

At this point in time I’m leaning towards the G19 for her, carried in her purse/bag. I think it’s far from ideal but a compromise based on her dress, body type, and activities (stay at home mom). I think going to a 19 will be natural for her but the 26 may steepen the learning curve a lot. I really want to do a grip-chop on my 17 into a 19L and the have it and the 26 as carry options depending on weather, clothes, location, etc. I may just trade my 17 for another 19 instead though. That grip chop is just so cool…

I’ve completely sidetracked my own thread now…thanks for the feedback guys.

The G26 was my first Glock and I still use it for CCW. Familiarity with the other Glocks is a big positive as well. I did end up adding the mag extension for the pinky, and it really helped me personally grip-wise without affecting the concealment aspect significantly.

I don’t remember exactly what I paid for it, though, as it was some time ago.

My wife carries a 26. This works very well as I mainly carry a 19. I have to admit during the summer if I am running out for a few minutes I will grab her 26 and carry it. They are very good. Never had a single problem with mine.

i normally carry my 19 ,but for some reason this summer i’ve been carrying m.26. i carry both back and forth to work but on my own time find myself w/26 more and more. it’s a great carry gun,but you need to pratice with like anything else that you would carry as a primary. i’ve put close to 1500 rds though in the last few weeks.

I was suprised at how mild the recoil of the G27 was, and at how easy it was to get hits. I thought it’d be an unmanageable little beast. But other than the short grip, it’s a piece of cake to shoot.

I went G27 for compatibility with my G22. I only carry the 27 if I have to go ankle holster for some reason. Other than that, I make the G22 work.

You must be concealing this under you wrist watch! Dude, you could hide a 34 on your ankle:cool:

Agree completely w/ demigod. Had a 27 that I traded for my 26 (to consolidate to 9mm only). Love the 26 but that 27 was a great little shooter and much more manageable than I would have expected… Regret getting rid of it and will probably have to find another.

I used my G26 for a local pistol competition years ago. It was my first competition ever, but I came in second in my “class” with it using G17 mags for re-loads. I wanted to see if it would be a viable CCW setup and it was.

Same experience here. I actually shoot higher scores with the 27. The 26/27 is a great gun, but they are fat sons-a-bitches. Lately I’ve been finding the 19/23’s easier to carry IWB…but that just may be due to my holster selection. (waiting on my MTAC)

Same reason I selected the G27. My primary was a G22.

true mark,
i’m just getting lazy i guess.:o

I’ve been carrying both a Glock 17 and 26 for over a decade. I love the G26, and unlike some, I can shoot it as well as a G19 though I give up 4 rounds. I did add a short Pearce +1 pinky extension to my main mag (then I carry all G17 mags), otherwise most people either curl their pinky under the grip or figure some type of 4-4.5 finger grip. They are so reliable that I wouldn’t think twice about purchasing a used one after examining it and checking its serial number. If you’re interested in a used G26 shoot me a PM. If you want to buy NIB and have fun building it your way then you can’t go wrong. There are many great combat handguns, but I think it is without a doubt the best CCW/back-up 9mm handgun available. . . . and I like M&P’s.

I just added my G26 to my CCW. While I can shoot it fine with the stock 10 round magazines, the +2 Glock factory extension makes for a more secure grip if you don’t mind the extra length for carry. It actually holds +2 also, unlike some of the other mag extensions, so the 12+1 is nice.

i love my 26. it’s my primary carry piece. combined with thunderwear, it’s very concealable. as mentioned above, i also don’t shoot it as well as, say a 17 or 19.

but it goes bang. and it’s reliable.

my poor 26 has taken a beating … dunked in swimming pools (i had to jump in to rescue my kid this past 4 July, who was doing his version of run silent run deep) and swims in the ocean (i fish saltwater in a wetsuit and carry).

in fact, at the last Larry Vickers carbine/pistol II course in July, i shot the 26 during a class lull which went through the aforementioned abuse (wet salty sandy rounds) … unrinsed, uncleaned and unlubed … and every round went bang, although out of 20 rounds a couple failed to feed (of course i checked for bbl obstructions before hand).

i’m thinking of getting another one to abuse.
