So I have a Gen 3 Glock 23, it came with the 13 round mags. When they have 13 rounds on them they are kinda tough to push home. I was wondering if this is something to worry about or if since it hasn’t been fired yet things may smooth up during break I’m.
While LAV, Ken Hackathorn, and Dave Harrington all prefer 9MM’s, they also all agree to download their Glock mags by one to help seat them with a slide forward (8:40 of this video).
I never thought much of it until my last Gunsite class and a full mag and my trying to hurry cost me a shot at the silver raven pin (end of class shootout). Long story short, my third Gunsite pistol class, I took my 21 year old daughter to a 250 class. Having been to a couple prior classes (250 & 350) and I practice what they preach, I was one of the better shooters in the class…again, I’d been there, so much more a testimony to their prior training and my practicing that training a lot than my natural abilities…
Anyway, the scenario was you shoot man to man, draw, shoot three small circle targets, perform a reload, and shoot your side of a split popper to make it fall under your opponents half of the popper. This was my third opponent, and if I won, I’d only have one match to win the pin. NO guarantee I’d have won, but I’d have made the finals.
So I drew and shot my three steel circles with three shots, and performed a tac reload before my opponent. But my first shot on the popper was a miss (hurried). Still ahead, I took better aim and “click”…So as I was preparing to "tap-rack-fire’, the mag falls out. My first impression was to pick the mag up, but half way into that, i realized I should go for a spare mag, which i did. Anyway, my fumbling gave my opponent time to finish the run, and by the time I was back up and fired, he’d fired his third shot and connected, for the win a split second before mine hit my target.
He went on to win the raven pin, and I learned the lesson to down load my mags by one, because in the heat of the moment, i may not slam a full mag home hard enough…
I usually just read posts like this and shake my head, trying not to take them to heart…
First off, your comments are a total hijack on the original topic and have nothing to do with the OP’s question.
That being said, you are entitled to your opinions, as I am mine- as a 32+ year LEO professional, your remark is biased, unsupported and a straight-up insult to the thousands of cops, agents, investigators, detectives and other sworn first responders who will answer your call at 0 dark thirty when the BG comes knocking…
I assume you will have a response to my post, but short of an apology, don’t waste your time…

Actually my original post was in response to someone’s post and my 2nd post was in response to someone’s reply to my post so they were on topic.
Trigger happy cops shooting unarmed people, especially innocent victims? Follow these links:
Somewhere along the way Our LEO Community switched from being “Serve and Protect” what it is today.
Look at the crazy jackwagon in Ferguson that was waving around his CAR-15 and threatening to kill unarmed protestors. When I saw this on the news I was like “WTF?!?!?!”
A few years ago the Jacksonville, AR PD served a misdemeanor warrant on a local man. The man was standing in the front doorway of his home wearing only tighty-whitey underwear and was shot 15 times with a CAR-16 in a single full-auto burst.
According to the other cop on the sence the victim did NOT make any threatening jesters whatsoever.
IA, State Police and FBI ruled it was a “bad shoot” and the City settled a multi-million dollar lawsuit with the family for wrongful death.
Were these the “LEO Professionals” that you were referring to?
Just curious.
Follow the links that I provided and honestly say that the two cops acted appropriately during the incident.
You can clearly tell that both cops were scared.
Not being aggressive.
Not being assertive.
Not being commanding but scared.
Both shot numerous rounds at an innocent victim with one being at a 70yo man that clearly was disabled and could barely stand or get around.
Just how much of a threat was that crippled up old man.
With the other innocent victim the cop fired numerous rounds at him AFTER he raised his hands.
Plus he fired numerous rounds in a crowded gas station with only one round hitting its target.
Where did the other rounds go?
Last year in NYC the NYPD was involved in a street shooting were numerous bystander/innocent victims were hit by stray rounds fired by the NYPD.
