I was set to buy an AA Glock .22lr conversion kit, but they seem to have dried up with everything else lately.
Should I wait on the AA or go ahead and pickup a Tac-sol kit that’s in stock?

Keep checking with this shop and you might get lucky. It’s where I purchased an AA kit for my Glock 17.

I wanted to post an update.
I placed an order with Brownell’s last week for a Tac-Sol TSG-22 conversion kit for my G17 as the AA kits are less than easy to find.
My kit and extra 15rd mag arrived from Brownell’s Thursday and I was able to head to the range with them today.
The kit was packaged nicely in a hard case with foam cut-outs for the conversion slide and mag. The slide was heavily lubed and wrapped in a plastic bag. I removed the slide from the bag, removed the recoil spring assembly and wiped everything down. Inspection revealed the slide to be nicely machined and finished with a weight very close to the factory 9mm unit. The mags were equally nicely made and loaded and seated easily though they curiously extend approximately 1/2" below the bottom of the frame. Weight when loaded with a full magazine of 9mm or .22lr was noticeably different, but expected. Also included in the kit was an instruction manual and flyer advising to use CCI Blazer to ensure reliability and CCI Mini Mag or Federal Automatch for the best accuracy.
Today I took the Tac-Sol TSG-22 and 400 rounds of .22lr ammo to the range along with my G17 and G19. After firing 100rnds of 9mm, I assembled the Tac-Sol unit on my G17 frame and lubed with Slip2000 EWL. I loaded the first two mags with 15 rounds of some 20 year old Winchester Wildcat 40gr round nose lead. I had 4 or 5 malfunctions within the first mag and about the same experience with the second. I experienced Failures to Feed, Fire, and Eject.
I was fortunate enough to score a little over 1000rnds of CCI Blazer yesterday so I next loaded up 2 mags with 15 rounds each of the Blazer. I then zipped through both mags without a single malfunction! The Blazer exhibited noticeably more flash and snap than the Wildcat.
I alternated between the Wildcat and Blazer the remainder of my range session firing 100 rounds of the Wildcat and 300 rounds of the Blazer. The Wildcat exhibited approximately a 70% reliability, however the Blazer was flawless with absolutely ZERO malfunctions of any kind in all 300 rounds fired.
Overall, I am very pleased so far. I cannot complain at all about 100% reliability with the factory recommended ammo and accuracy was very good. If it continues to exhibit this same reliability with the Blazer ammo, I intend to pickup an additional G17 frame and make it a dedicated .22 trainer.
My Sister, Mother, and Mother-in-law have all recently inquired about me teaching them to shoot a handgun, and I feel that the TSG-22 will make an excellent tool for new shooters such as themselves and kids that may be hesitant regarding recoil and flash. The fact the the weight, sights, controls, and manual of arms are all exactly the same as the larger 9mm Glocks will allow them to work on proper handling, sight alignment, trigger control, and gain some confidence in their skills prior to moving them up to the 9mm.
I’ll continue to update with additional range time, but hopefully Tac-Sol has resolved any initial teething problems since the TSG-22’s release.
I got one a few years back for my 21sf, AA, good investment and tons of cheap trigger time. I wish they made mags over 10 rounds tho…
Are the AA ones as picky with ammo, or is that just the norm?
All I have ever shot out of it is bulk CCI Mini Mag and out of thousands of rounds that have gone threw it over the years there havent been any catastrophic stoppages that you wouldnt encounter with any other weapon. I do hear they are finicky with other ammo tho.
Doesn’t lone wolf carry 15 & 25 rd mags for them? Are they only for certain kits I guess?

Put another 150 rounds through the Tac-Sol conversion today.
This time it was Rem Golden Bullets as I heard they ran well in AA kits.
Well, they ran well in the Tac-Sol too.
I did have 2 malfunctions. One FTE and one FTF that I believe was ammo related and not the kit.
So far I’ve put over 500 rounds through the kit and am extremely pleased.
Thos 15 and 25 rd mags run on the 17/19…no dice for my 21. :suicide2:
