Glock 21 Gen 4

I’m looking at eventually getting one of the Gen 4 G-21’s, but all the current issues with the 9mm Glocks have made me somewhat leery. Any potential issues with the Gen 4 G-21? Also, is there any evidence that Glock has a handle on these issues?

My duty gun is a G4 G21, 1500+ rounds of everything you can think of, not a single hiccup.

I don’t know about the topic extensively, because my 19 has never had an issue, but I do know that Glock has been taking steps to fix the issues that people have had with the Gen 4’s. I think most recently though, they have started a recall for any Gen 4’s with problems. Like I said I don’t know a whole lot, but someone else here probably will.

My EDC gun is a gen 4 21; and like Slater it has run close to 1500 rounds without any issues. I ran it for 1000 without cleaning and ran as many different types of ammo including steel case, UMC, WWB, very old Monarch, some reloads… In addition to my defensive ammo. No issues out of the box and still no issues. IMO Glock made too many assumptions when it came to the 9mm.

Slater, I’m the poster child for bad luck with recent production Glocks - I’m on my 4th G19 in a year now, and haven’t had the time to take it to the range to see if this one will work.

Having said that, I’ve heard nothing but glowing reports about the Gen4 G21s, in fact, if this G19 doesn’t work, that’s what I’ll be telling Glock I want as a replacement.

Regards,

Kevin

I also want to add that I have never had an issue with my g4 g19. ever.

So you’re the one.

I own eleven Glocks including a 21sf and I wouldn’t own a Gen 4 just yet. You’ll probably be fine, but I’d wait until the current issues are worked out with the 9’s and ensure they haven’t manifested in the 21.

I’ve only got about 300 rounds through a gen4 17 but it’s been flawless. Test fired in November 2011. I’m about to buy another one.

I have heard of no issues with the G21 Gen 4 guns. I fired about 250 rounds through a brand new one today with 3 types of 230 ball, 230 Golden Saber Bonded, Ranger 230+P T Series, and Federal 230+P Tactical. The gun ran flawlessly (shot from different positions, strong and support hand only, and with an intentionally poor grip) and was very accurate. The percieved felt recoil was very mild with the standard 230gr stuff. The gun fits my hand much better than the G21 and G21SF I previously owned but sold because they were too big and awkward. I really like the gun.

Good to hear the 21’s don’t seem to be shitting the bed like the 9’s are.

So far, the 4th gen G21 is the best of the gen 4 Glocks.

Good to hear the 21’s don’t seem to be shitting the bed like the 9’s are.

l got 1 about a month ago, 2-3k rounds no issues. Mostly all my reloads, so far so good.

don’t know if anyone has complained about any of hte .45 glocks. even the .40 glocks don’t seem to have any extraction complaints.

it’s a shame that the glock was originally designed for the 9mm and those are the ones suffering.

1750 trouble free rounds so far. I’m impressed with the shootability…I can outshoot my M&P 45. Aside from a tuned 1911, it’s one of the most accurate 45’s I’ve ever shot. It’s currently the only Glock in my stable as I got rid of the others years ago- however, I won’t be parting with this particular one anytime soon.

Fired another 200rds throught the G21 Gen 4 yesterday, ball & HST, after installing Ameriglo sights. The gun is quite accurate and totally reliable thus far, even though I have tried to make it malfunction. I shot it next to a midsize 45 M&P. Both my shooting buddy and I thought the Glock had less muzzle flip and was more accurate (could have been the Ameriglo sights were more shooter friendly than the stock M&P ones). Admittedly, it’s ealry and the G21 G4 has a low round count, but I really like this gun so far. So much so that my M&P midsize .45 will be going up for sale.

I have a close friend that has a Gen 4 21. I have put maybe 50 rounds thru it and he has around 1500 rounds down. It has preformed great so far. I will be adding one to the safe in the next few months myself.

I have had a Gen 4 G21 since late this past summer and have several hundred rounds through it without any problems. I have researched this on many gun sites and have not seen one problem with the G21 Gen 4. I personally like all the Glock 45’s, except for some reason my shooting was way off with the G 21 SF. I sold it and bought a Gen 4 G21 and it is the most accurate and soft shooting Glock of all. I don’t think you could go wrong with getting one.
