Glock 19Sf

Anyone have any info on when this is supposed to be on shelves?

Our LEO Glock rep said that nothing is set in stone but he is hearing they plan on an early 09 release. I’m thinking around Shot Show…

Finally something for us left handers

I hope they don’t do that sorry ass ambi mag release like they did on the 21.

I hope they do some type of ambi mag release. Other words I might as well buy a damn g19

Bro, it’s so easy to just use your middle or index finger to hit the release.

I agree. I find it actually easier to hit the release with my index knuckle, than using a thumb and allows you to keep a stronger grip. You’re also better conditioned to pick up any right handed pistol. I used to have a 21SF and I never used the ambi release.

I think if they were to add an ambi feature they would have done better with the slide release as that would make the gun safer for the lefty to operate.

Different things work for different people.

If it was easier to use a index finger then they wouldn’t have the market for ambi mag releases.

I have close to 15k rounds through a glock 17 and roughly 500 through a 21sf and I already feel much more confident with the SF.

I will definitely pick up one of these!

Indeed. For abut ten years I’ve been reversing the mag catch on my Berettas, SIGs, and M&Ps so that I could hit the catch with my trigger finger, which works faster for me.

Given the opportunity, I think everyone benefits from the ability to try both ways on their pistol and choose the method that works best.

Are we going to be seeing all Glock models in the SF configuration with picatinny rails?

I didn’t know that there was going to be a Glock 19SF, but I sure would love to have a Glock 17SF if it will be coming out.

Long as you have the fundamentals down your good to go. I really don’t care how the cat is skinned, just looking for the end result.

Ultimately people don’t know what they don’t know. They’ve been conditioned to believe they need a lefty mag release…so they insist on it. In my experience with a little training and practice most agree it’s easier but you may disagree.

The problem with “market” logic is that the same could be said about any number of useless things on the market. The Norgon Ambi-catch is a good example. It may be easier, but it isn’t necessarily better.

Especially if you have to pick up someone else’s (righty) firearm.

To each there own.

We run battle field pickup every Tuesday night honestly after all the problems I have seen with lefty’s shooting right handed weapons and lefty’s shooting ambi weapons I would say, “having to pick up a right handed weapon and it becoming a problem is a myth.” Those who are well trained have no problems going from a 1911 to a Sig to a Glock.

Give a right-hander a gun with a reversed mag catch, though, and watch him try to reload. Now that’s fun.

If hitting the mag release with one’s trigger finger or middle finger was the best way for everyone (or even most people), then gun manufacturers would have been putting mag catches on the opposite side for years. The thumb works perfectly well for a lot of people, R- and L-handers alike. I’ve met quite a few people who, even after playing with a “reversed” mag catch do not like it and go back to a traditional one (again, both R- and L-handers). Finger size and strength, familiarity, etc. all play a role here.

While I appreciate the mindset behind the battlefield pickup drill, I think sometimes it’s overblown for folks in a domestic/private citizen setting. The number of times a CCW holder or cop has to use a stranger’s pistol in a gunfight is infinitesimally small even in relation to the already tiny chance that a person will ever need to shoot someone in the first place.

To me, the battlefield pickup drill (outside of mil/OCONUS familiarity training) is more about being a broadly knowledgeable and experienced firearms enthusiast than being prepared for a fight.

I agree with you completly

However are Instructor’s intention of BFP in this case was to prove that when your stressed you really won’t be worrying about the 3,4,5,8lb trigger. You just revert back to your training.

BFP has little relevance in the real world, but I sure enjoy shooting everyones .45ACP on there dime while I load my glock17 with 9mm…

There is nothing wrong with having and ambi safety, I just think there are better designs for one than the one Glock came up with.

This is coming from a lefty.

Which model features an ambi-safety?

G21SF…I believe some of them do come in the standard setup.
