Glock 19 Gen3 slide/Gen5 frame question

All my Glocks (with the exception of of my G48) are Gen3. No real reason anymore, it’s just hold over from when the Gen4’s hit the market and had some teething issues. Anyway, for a while now I’ve wanted to find a way to put one of my G19 slides on a full size frame. I was considering the GSX100 frame but I’ve heard mixed results about them.

But while looking around I stumbled across the realization that the Gen3 slides are compatible with the Gen5 G45 and G19X frames. My question isn’t so much about the compatibility and I know about the gap at the muzzle. What I’d like to know, from first hand users who have done this modification is how does it affect reliability? Are there any issues I should know about going in?

I ran a PSA Dagger slide (gen3) on my G45 frame without issue. Swap the back plate on the slide to a gen5 back plate and go to town. 4000rds no issues.

Do you have to eliminate the ambi slide release from the gen 5 frame to work with the gen 3 slide?

No, works just fine
