I am in the process of troubleshooting some rifle issues that I believe involve some tolerance stacking. Does anyone know how to locate the detailed dimensional specs for a GI aluminium magazine?
If you post some measurements, i’m sure some of the guys here can confirm spec or out of spec.
The main measurement I’m interested in is the height of the bullet above the top of the magazine body. I’ve been troubleshooting some guns for work and I think we have some magazine issues.
Both of these magazines are mil-spec aluminum with Magpul followers. The one on the left does not run, the one on the right does. I’d be interested in the height when the cartridge is on the right and left side.
Looks like the left feed lip on the left mag is distorted some.I could be wrong though since I have just gotten into ARs

left mag in that pic looks bad with that bullet angle. Similar thing happened to me, bent feed lips.
I am definitely no expert, however, my Brownell’s 20 and 30 round mags have the same appearance as the one on the right with regards to the amount of the cartridge above the front rim of the mag, and they have had no issues of any kind.
The angle looks like the round will just nose dive and not clear the mag.
at the risk of sounding crass: its a gi mag, is that the only mag you’re having issues with? toss it if that’s the case, its not worth the headache. ive heard of brand new gi mags that don’t run. there’s a reason they’re 8-10 bucks a pop.
