I’ve got an SDI 16" mid-length, which I, among other things, need to get a sling for. I plan on getting either the BFG VCAS or VCAS PB sling. Here’s a link to an explanation between the two slings - LINK. VCAS is #2 and VCAS PB is #4.
I need to get some sort of side sling mount for the front. I’m not sure if I want to go with the M4 side sling mount which clamps on the barrel, or if I should go with a GG&G Sling Thing which clamps inside the FSB. If I got the GG&G QD Sling Thing, then the VCAS PB sling should work perfect. Although, do you think it would be long enough to attach to the FSB and to my Magpul CTR stock? If it’s not, then I guess the standard VCAS, with the fastex buckle, is the way to go. If that’s the case, I could use either QD Sling Thing or the M4 side sling mount.
I believe I’d like the VCAS PB version, simply because I think it would fit my eventual build, but that would only work if I used the GG&G QD Sling Thing or if the VCAS PB sling was capable of somehow being used with the M4 side sling mount. With the VCAS PB sling, is there a way to set it up with a buckle, or is it QD only? I’d like to eventually put on a railed handguard, so the front sling mount I’m trying to decide on would then be unnecessary. What kind of polishing/wear of the barrel or FSB can I expect to see if I eventually remove the sling mount?
