He says he couldn’t support McCain because of Palin isn’t ready…So Obama is ready? That is completely idiotic logic
He doesn’t like McCain bringing up Ayers. Shouldn’t a General sworn to defend this nation from all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC be interested in the Obama’s ties to DOMESTIC TERRORISTS.
He doesn’t like Republicans saying Obama is a Muslim. Okay well first, I challenge Powell to name a single elected Republican that has call Obama a Muslim.

I hate to say it, because I always thought Powell was destined to be the first black President, and he surely is qualified to for the role, but he killed his political career today, and this move will be wildly interpreted as him being predictable given the obvious difference between McCain and Obama

As a Major in Vietnam, Colin Powell was accused of whitewashing investigating the Mai Lai Massacre. Now he is whitewashing Barak Obama’s background and associations.
Powell was probably promised a cabinet position by b. hussein o. All this stuff about him holding back his endorsement of anyone early showed he wasn’t a true Republican as he claimed. You’re either for one or the other from the beginning. He’s been a private citizen since his departure from the Bush cabinet, so there’s no reason for him to hold back his thoughts and opinions. He felt he was done wrong by the Bush administration and now is his chance to say, “f u you very much!”. Powell lost me months ago when he stood on the sideline from the beginning of the campaign. As for McCain not getting Powell’s endorsement, he’s got the endorsement of many other Sec. of State and many generals.
In addition to Palin being one reason he won’t support McCain is his belief that McCain is running a very negative campaign.
Another reason is because Obama’s relationship with Ayers was minimal, in is view.
Powell stated that in his travels and discussions with senior republicans he had heard such statements as “Obama is a Muslim”.
What do you belive is Powell’s agenda?
Do you belive Powell is in bed with Ayers too and is working to turn the U.S. into a muslim state?
Do you believe, as Pat Buccanan eluded to this morning, ‘He is only supporting him because he’s black’?
Obama wasn’t born a Christian. He CHOSE Christianity. How many of the politicians we vote for can say that? How many can say that they have seen and followed (for a time) religions not common to the U.S. and CHOSE Christianity?
Most Americans have never experienced any other religion but the one they are born into but they claim to KNOW all about them.
If the followers of Islam are always wrong, try telling that to the American Muslim soldier who bled right next to the American Christian soldier.

I liked Powell, then I read his book from the mid 90s, Holy Crap he is anything but a conservative. Pro-affirmative action and a bunch of other stuff. A good man, but not a conservative and in my opinion a RINO. I think he did the Republican route since he thought it would advance his career.
I’m a chemist, I know how to run experiments. Obama is in this position because he is black, or half black, whatever. The experiment has been run. Young, good looking, “clean”, articulate, left of Mao, and little experience describes both BHO and John Edwards (not the psychic). The only difference is their race. I haven’t seen as many white women fawn over an African-american man since I saw that movie on pay-per-view in the hotel.

In my view two things are at work here. On some level, Colin probably is proud of Obama and feels justifiable kinship with him. On a deeper level, Colin was heading into the history books with an untarnished record until the left skewered him over his WMD speech to the UN. Ever since then he has been trying to get back his “legacy” and this is a part of that.
In the book “BlackHawk Down” The author asks Powell how come there are so few minorities in the elite units, like the Ranger BN’s and CAG…Powells responce, thats why we need affimative action in the military.
As for choosing religion, this IS America, I may have been born a Catholic, but NO ONE forced it on me, and I can choose to practice whatever religion I please, regardless of what I was born. Something that can not be said about other places.

C’mon, guys. They’ve all been groomed to be Globalists. All of them (maybe 98%) short of Ron Paul are somewhat shy of what Thomas Paine and the Anti-Federalists’ intended. NAFTA, CAFTA, FTAA PATRIOT Acts, Military Commissions Act, Warner Defense Authorization Act,… , the list goes on. And you know what? BOTH parties were up to their Adam’s Apples getting these and other unconstitutional acts passed.
I don’t give a worn out extractor if he’s a Muslim. How many of you STUDY your OWN religion much less others? This question is to the WORLD as many speak as experts and they don’t really know much more than soundbytes. I’ve spoken with Muslims who think they know Christianity and vice versa. Same with Hinduism, Buddhism, etc., etc. But the Constitution does not state they one must not be a Muslim does it? He, like most of us, were born “into a religion” and may even have been baptized only to choose something else later. I applaud the thought & study (assuming thought & study was involved) before he CHOSE his faith.
We need a change of direction than the direction we’re headed. I’m not sure Obama is the “best” candidate - I still philosophically side with Ron Paul - but the intense war-mongering, Constitutional-trampling that has gone on the last 16 years must end. The latest financial fiasco is poof-positive the system is broken. The bad thing is that it is more than just the president - it’s Congress as well that needs to be slammed. Hard.
Will the American public rally behind whomever is president? I doubt it. Whomever is president has a daunting task. An over-reached military machine; a loss of “colonies” in Central and South America; losing the battle for the Caucasus; a LOST financial system; low public faith in the system and a militarily strengthened Russia that is spreading it’s influence around the globe which will prove troublesome. Then there is the US economy…
