Thank you.
Are the recoil springs of the Gen 3 and Gen 4 interchangeable? I would like to try a Gen 4 recoil spring on my Gen 3 G19.
No they are not.
+1
No go on the springs
I got to check one out at the Cross Roads gunshow out here in AZ While on vacation. I don’t think I will be getting rid of my M&P’s anytime soon, but the grips size, texture, and the mag release is a big improvement over the Gen 3 to my hands. I need to shoot one…
Peoples comments on the G4 19 sound just like my comments on the G4 17. Flatter shooting, faster, and more accurate. I just give the G4’s triggers a little more trigger finger and all is well. Mine has the 03 recoil spring.
I put 300 rounds through it today. 110 rds of Federal Red Box from Wally World (not American Eagle), 100 rounds of WWB, 100 rounds of NATO 124gr. No issues of any kind just like it’s big brothers. I purposely shot the weak Federal first with no issues. I cleaned and lubed today and will do the same course of fire tomorrow. I’m also going to pick up another one next week since this is my new carry pistol. I ordered two sets of Warren/Sevigny Carry sights and a bunch of extra mags from CDNN and am good to go. It’s about as small a pistol as I’m willing to carry though. I won’t carry anything I can’t get a full grip on.

I just got my Gen 4 22. Quick question, where are you guys buying extra magazines from that are original generation 4 glock. Whats CDNN as mentioned above?

I called one of my local gun shops today and was able to get my hands on their last Gen 4 in stock. They received 5 yesterday and they just flew off the shelves. The price was $550. This is my very first Glock. I’ve shot them plenty of times in the past, but was hesitant to purchase one of my own because I was turned off by the ergonomics. I have small hands and the Glocks just never felt “right.” However, the arrival of the Gen 4 to the market and the smaller grip circumference was finally enough to get me to be a Glock owner. I like the grip texture and feel in the hand much better than older models. The extended mag release is very easy to actuate without changing my grip.
I could not wait to get to the range so I ran home and cleaned/lubricated the gun. I went to the range and ran 350 rounds through it without any malfunctions. The gun shot very well. I was pleased with the accuracy and speed of the trigger. However, I’m not crazy about the trigger pull, but then again I never have been a big fan of Glock’s triggers. I’m sure it will grow on me with use.
I ran a variety of ball ammo through the gun and it all functioned properly. Here is the breakdown of the ammo shot today:
American Eagle, 147gr, FMJ - 50 rounds
Sellier & Bellot, 115gr, FMJ - 50 rounds
Herter’s, 115gr, FMJ - 50 rounds
MFS, 124gr, FMJ - 50 rounds
PMC Bronze, 115gr, FMJ - 50 rounds
Winchester White Box, 115gr, FMJ - 100 rounds
While shooting the MFS and PMC Bronze, I realized that some of the extracted casings were flying towards my head/face. A few even hit me right in the forehead.
Rather annoying. I’d like to see how this gun holds up so I will enter this firearm into “The 2,000 Round Challenge” and report my results in that forum.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I know that Glocks are renowned for their reliability so I’m confident that the gun will continue to function as expected.

Great place to buy mags, accessories, and firearms.
Thanks for the range reports. The Gen4 Glock19 may be my next purchase. Can’t wait to check one out at the local shop.
Yes, I get all my Glock mags from CDNN. They periodically offer shipping for $4.00. Plus they have new G-17 mags for $15. They have G-19 mags for $18.

Get on their mailing list for their weekend specials. I just wish they sold mags for my G-26.
Are the spring weights on the 03 recoil assembly the same as the 02 recoil assembly?
And did the production 02 recoil assemblies solve the ‘‘problems’’ (that I didn’t have) on the Gen4 G17s?
Someone posted that it looked like the top finger groove under the trigger guard was bigger now in the gen 4 pistols - all of these new pictures really make it look larger.
Has anyone compared?
Any chance of getting a G3/G4 side by side (guns right next to each other, looking straight at the frontstraps)?
That’s probably my only gripe about my G19, but it’s not a big enough deal to send it off to get modified.
Thanks -
bob
Why would they be? G-19 recoil springs were never just chopped down G-17 springs so why would they start now?
Put 250 rds of Blazer 115 fmj through a new Gen 4 G19 this morning. No cleaning, no additional lube, no locking slide back overnight etc. The gun functioned 100%.
If the distance from trigger guard to first finger groove hump is a different dimension it’s not perceptable to my side by side comparo.
My perception is that this Gen 4, like the 17 as well, tracks flatter in recoil with less vertical movement of the front sight than Gen 3. This improvement is incremental. But isn’t that what we seem to chase on all our pistols and ARs? ![]()
Accuracy was not carefully observed with slow fire at 25 yds but during rapid fire (0.75 -1 sec splits approx) at 12 yards, groups with the Gen 4 G19 were about 30% smaller than with a trusty Gen 3 G19.
On drills fired faster with splits in the 0.30 range, at 7 yards, groups with the Gen 4 were also at least 30% smaller than with the trusty Gen 3. Inherent advantages of the lockup should not be a factor at this close range and I attribute this to the superior front sight tracking and improved trigger break which I perceive in the stock Gen 4 setups.
I did a non scientific limp wrist test comparing the Gen 4 G19 to the Gen 3 19. Holding the pistol sideways/gangsta with just thumb and two fingers the Gen 4 did not fully cycle and the Gen 3 did. FWIW.
Good stuff. Results on targets and timer shooting FAST drills and El Presidentes suggested that the Gen 4 gave me better results than my Gen 3.
I tried only two grip options today. Smallest option (no adaptor) and the large and the faster times with best hits were with the smallest option. My hands easily manage the large inserts
Great comments from everyone. When the Gen 4 Glocks came out I was underwhelmed and did not think they would stop the flight to the M&P. But I bought one on a whim and now I think differently. I don’t know how well these would hold up under difficult field conditions but it sure would have been a nice size to have when I was in the Marine Corps.
I can’t find a Gen4 G19 for sale online anywhere…could anyone provide a link? I didn’t think they were available yet…![]()
Top Gun Supply has them in stock. I called Glockmeister on Friday with my CC info…I’m getting one from the next group they have to come in (I was told probably this week).
Thanks for the info. ![]()
I am a little behind the curve on the Gen4 Glocks, will Gen 4 mags work with the older versions?
Side note of my range trip…
I took my dad along to the range as they were in town visiting. My Dad has a Gen3 Glock 19 but does not shoot much at all. After about the first 50 rounds he took a turn running a full mag through my Gen4 Glock 19. I noticed immediatly that his strong hand was SO LOW on the frame as he leveled off the pistol on target. I remember thinking “oh boy, here comes our first stoppages”. As he shot, his grip only worsened and the Glock looked like a wet noodle being used as a lasso. Never jammed, I was shocked after hearing about some peoples issues with the G4 Glock17’s and these new recoil setups.
That is all-
