Gen 5 Glock Cutout Fix

So as everyone knows the gen 5 is great except for the cutout. Is there an aftermarket product that fixes the discomfort in the grip and the potential snag when reloading?

Yes there are aftermarket products that slip on your magazine.

Here’s an example by Pearce Grips:

Or you can buy an MOS frame, they don’t have the cut out. Likewise the G45 does not have the cut out (mine doesn’t anyway)

But far from everyone has issues with the cutout.

The cutout doesn’t really cause discomfort, but it could get in the way when reloading under stress. Either way most people I have talked to do not like it.

It was a factor in my decision to go with the mos. no cutouts, plus front serrations.

I just don’t get the cutout, It was a major factor that lead to me selling my gen 5.

The entire concept is ridiculous. An extended base pad does the same thing while retaining a grip like they have been for over 100years. One of the dumbest things Ive seen. Its worse than the grip zone on XDs.

Double.

The cutout is the one and only reason I did not purchase a Gen 5 G19. The Pearce mag base is a great idea.

Maybe it was just me but I found the Pearce base pads to pinch

That is why I didnt like the cut out when I handled the G19 I was looking at. Sticking with my Gen4 G19.

Traded my 19Gen5 for a 26Gen5. I could not stand the cutout. I doesn’t bother me on the 17Gen5.

The cutout bothers me a hell of a lot less than the dreaded “Glock knuckle” that causes a huge callus on my second finger where it contacts under the trigger guard AND my trigger finger develops one as well wear it rubs the frame. You’d think after all these years, they’d smooth down those areas.

I have the Pierce mag floorplates for my G19.5

I found a G19.5 MOS lower on Gunbroker to replace my G19 Cutout Gen 5

I talked to a Glock Rep at the Glock Exhibit/booth at the NRA Show, and he said the standard (non MOS with no grip frame cutout) Gen 5 G19’s will be gradually phased in, in the coming months. He did not specify how many months that would be, but that it would be happening. If I were to guess, I would be really surprised If we did not see standard (non MOS) G19’s in the next 2-6 months.

I would say you have it from a credible source then.

I was hoping someone made something that would screw into the grip plug, maybe a magwell or something. I guess the best option is an MOS frame or a p80.

SLR rifleworks makes a magwell.

I agree, the cut out is a non-problem and the trigger guard needs to be smoother. I just did a two-day handgun class with zero cut-out issues and a bit of wear on my finger under the guard.

How is the Gen 5 cutout different than the Gen 2 cut out?

And is there something about the Pearce floor plate not evident in the picture that keeps it from being a pinch point?
