Gen 3 night vision

Apparently TNVC is closed until next year, but I’d like to get something ordered sooner rather than later.

Looking to get a good quality Gen3 monocular (pvs14-style) that I can use on a helmet mount as well as behind day optics using a mount that clamps onto the day optic ocular bell.

Anyone have some good suggestions?

I’d say wait on tnvc I can’t afford their goodies but know a few friends who can and swear by their service. And really… it is what 4 days?

Outside of them I’ve had good luck with smaller items from optics plant.

Why you think I’m posting this?

I would like some suggestions in what the good unit to buy is before they re-open, so I can simply make a phone call with a decent idea of what I want.

My only experience with night vision thus far has been Gen 1 and Gen 2 junk.

Maybe TNVC will get my business, maybe they won’t. I still want to talk about the different models, with people that have actually used them, to understand whether or not they will meet my expectations.

Sorry I’m dumb. I thought you wanted alternatives to tnvc.

I’ve played with gen1, 2 and 3 in limited training setups. Three is beautiful and works great. But the improvement from 2 to 3 wasn’t worth the budget increase for me. But I’m not betting my life on it.

I asked the same question (which to get) of some experts in nvgs. People that they wear 5 nights a week it to train people in combat/cqb use of nvgs. Their answer was pick how much you will spend then call tnvc and see the best they can give you for that price. What are your needs and budget? You haven’t really defined that to suggest a unit. Are you going to wear it all night and need super light, use it for long range or cqb etc.

If I could spend whatever the nvg+flir setup is amazing looking.

Ask Skypup he’s the man when it come to thermal and nightvision,

:suicide: Well I’m a dumbass some days. I chastise people all the time for asking vague dumbass questions about precision rifles. I guess I’ll wear my sign with pride.

Budget - Around $3000
Use - helmet - general navigation, going to and from places in the dark. Driving around… etc.
Use - weapon - shooting rats at 25-50yds, shooting steel 300-500yds, going on vacation and shooting pigs or whatever at 50-300yds. General hunting… etc.

I’d say I’d spend a lot of time shooting rats.

Maybe walking around with my suppressed 45 with trijicon RMR shooting rabbits. etc.

I’m out of my experience at the long range stuff and short range with the same unit.

Enjoy your stupid sign. I wear mine with pride

Just something you might want to think about, I had a set of PVS-5a’s and my Trijicon two dot rear sight lit up so bright I thought I was looking into the sun…

I have a gen 1+ bino setup right now… it works just fine. Can only work better with better NV.

what the lo down on the larue package? Been looking to make a just to NV but im lost.

Hi gang, sorry I gave my employees some time off. Give us a call January 2nd or IM me here. Be glad to assist, we’ve assisted a great many here on M4C.

We find thus far the best bang for you NV monocular dollar has been our new TNV-14 kits http://tnvc.com/shop/category/night-vision-monoculars/ along with a OPS Core Base Jump helmet. We build our TNV-14’s in house with current Gen 3 ITT or L3 tubes.

Happy New Year.

Vic

Victor, am I giving up anything by going with one of your units as opposed to a night enforcer?

I have purchased the TNV/PVS-14 L3 Omni VIII from TNVC.

Good piece of kit… The furthest I have used them is at 200 yds on a 10" round steel gong and a PEQ-15 on my 6920 (NODS on a helmet mount). Beats the -7s I have used in the past.

I will be using them for LAV’s CQB class in July.

It comes down to if folks want a factory built ITT system along with the ITT factory warranty. Tubes are identical and ours does have a 5 year bumper to bumper. ITT has a 3 year system.

Still some folks want the ITT built system and we fully understand. Some Depts. we work with also have to have factory built stuff as well.

Vic

Thanks Dan, glad you like the kit! You will enjoy Larry’s course.

Vic

So I get more warranty with your kit. I like that.

Am I giving anything up in terms of quality? (image/housing/etc)

Im no expert but ive had the pleasure of visiting nightline in tennessee with my sheriffs office. It was a FUN visit. Try them…

If you’re going with the L3 vs the Pinnacle there is a difference. Whether or not you will be able to see any difference is hard to say. While they look different on the spec sheet, your eyes may not be able to tell the difference.
