I’m about to trade for a gen 2 glock 17 tomorrow, the owner does not know too much about the gun, he got it in trade. At first I thought it was a glock 17 gen 2.5 but from what I have read those have finger groves and no rail . This gun has no finger grooves, a rail. And a 3 pin frame. I’m certainly stumped as to what gen it is. Here’s a picture .
That’s a hard photo to see. Did you take it or the guy selling it? I can barely see the checkering where the fingers grooves should be. That’s a Gen 3. The first three letters of the serial number will tell the year. http://www.flarms.com/forums/showthread.php?113-Glock-Serial-Numbers/page2 up to January 2010
Yeah ether way I’m not complaining, a g17 is a g17, I’m not really too picky when it comes to finger grooves or not just was trying to find out the gen. Will update tomorrow for sure with the verdict on exactly the gen.
I never new there was a G17 with finger grooves and no rail…My G17 is what I’ve always referred to as a transitional model and it’s a 2 pin frame with finger grooves and rail (but no more finger groves after I sent it to Boresight Solutions).
