So I read a lot of search results mentioning Geissele warning against the use of KNS pins but no explanation as to why. I spoke with both manufacturers about the issue, here is what they said:
Geissele:
“We have had past issues with KNS pins not being hard enough and too under spec in diameter. The result was burrs being produced that ruined the trigger. This is why it may work fine for some, no doubt, yet COULD lead to a failure for others. This is why we do not recommend using their pins.”
KNS Precision:
“We have heard of issues in using our pins with Geissele triggers, but it was only with their most expensive trigger as they moved the “J” spring location so it no longer uses the same pin grove location.”
Geissele confirms that the “National Match” triggers are different, that they in fact dont use a “J” spring at all and instead use a cir-clip. But they remain with their recommendation to not use KNS pins even on their models that use traditional “J” springs…
Niether of those threads came up in my searches. A couple pages worth I went through showed several instances where no details were given as to why “not” to use KNS with Geissele. Hence the reason for my post, rest assured the universe will continue to thrive…
