Geissele Super SCAR trigger

Anybody who’s anybody in this industry knows that Geissele makes the best M4 triggers in the industry. There is just no comparison to others on the market when it comes to durability, reliability, and performance. I have them in all of my M4/AR’s that I shoot with any regularity.

I also like the SCAR FOW. They are good, accurate, reliable guns and there’s only a few things I’d change about them to make them better (especially the Heavy; great gun). The trigger is one of them. The OEM trigger is not horrible, but it’s not great. It is a reliable duty/combat trigger with a fairly clean single stage break in the 8lb range, but I felt it was the one thing that was holding me back on the gun when it came to really precise shooting.

A few years back Geissele released a trigger for the SCAR made with their typical attention to detail and excellence. Unfortunately, it was machined from billet in fairly short runs and retailed for $400. That meant that they were hard to find and when you could find them they were pricey. That changed in the fall of 2012 when Mr. Geissele invested in the forgings and toolings to produce these triggers on the same scale as the rest of his line. While it didn’t bring the Super SCAR trigger down to that of an SSA the MSRP of $325 is a “little” easier to swallow.

I finally got a Super SCAR at SHOT Show this year and immediately installed it into my SCAR 16S Standard. Installation was not difficult, but is much more involved than an M4. The only special tool required is a very small flat tip screw driver to remove the selector lever. Make sure you watch the installation video here and follow the instructions here as you go.

The difference is night-and-day! While changing out a trigger isn’t going to make your weapon more intrinsically accurate it can make it easier to exploit that accuracy. That is absolutely the case here where an excellent trigger has allowed me to wring out that last 5-10% of performance. If you’re looking to get that last little bit of performance out of your SCAR 16/17 I highly recommend giving one a shot. I’m getting another to drop into my Heavy for some long distance shooting this spring. I’ll update this thread after I do.

Stephen, with all of this talk about .308 Recce/DMR guns, dont you think that the Mk17 with the Super Scar trigger fills this role almost perfectly?
There are some wicked .308 AR’s out there but I still see the Mk17 with the advantage. Lighter, more reliable, less felt recoil, better suited for a suppressor and very accurate. If FN would just make a 16 inch Mk20 with their Match trigger or the Super SCAR trigger then I think all of the bases would be covered.

I have heard nothing but good about these triggers. I hope to be able to find one. Thanks for the review.

I have one of the older types in my 17. It doesn’t get much nicer than that in terms of trigger pull, and you don’t see reports of light strikes and lower receiver deformation like you do with the Timney.

If you have a line on where to find another one, PM me…I put in a backorder at Midway for my 16, but their ETA is August sometime.

"Geissele is currently running seven days a week with Sunday’s production devoted to SCAR triggers. Recently we have found SCAR triggers being sold at upwards of $1600 through internet auction websites. We fully understand the free market concept but our customers come first. In order to prevent price gouging of SCAR triggers through internet auctions, SCAR triggers will only be available thru Midway USA and our website. The triggers will be sold at the new, lowered retail price of $325. (They used to be $400).

Each week we are going to be offering a limited amount of SCAR triggers on our website at approximately noon every Wednesday. There will be a limit of 1 SCAR trigger per customer. Multiple orders will be cancelled.

We are working on production tooling so that we can meet demand for the SCAR trigger, once this tooling is online the SCAR trigger will be much more available.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this difficult time. "

Sweet. Thanks brother.

Thanks for the heads up! I picked on up at lunch time.

Glad to see the pricing coming down because I plan on buying a SCAR 17 in the future. This is a good sign though for other accessories to come out for the SCAR is the trigger is selling that well.

1 Big + on Geissele Scar triggers – I had to wait 4 months last year when I bought mine, a true match quality 2 stage trigger. Extremely happy with mine, worth the wait and cost.

I tried and tried for months to get one of these for my 17S. I was finally able to score one about a week ago on Wednesday at exactly noon as I was advised. Trigger arrived this week and I installed it late at night. Hit’s on a Vicker’s advised 5.5" black bull at 100 yds with Aimpoint M4 are effortless now compared to the extra focus I had to apply on the factory trigger. Close in controlled pairs and failure drills are a dream to control.

I couldn’t possibly be happier. The trigger is a complete night and day addition. This is my third Geissele trigger (Two AR ones) and I’ve yet to find one negative thing to report in regards to service and product.

So once again a personal thank you to John B. from the company for some of the best customer service and patience I’ve ever had. And I can assure you that as soon as I can find the new Mk 4 rails released I’ll be getting one of those for my Colt M4.

Love my G SS trigger… i dont know why they didnt include these from the factory bc the stock trigger is too heavy for my liking but i guess its a good battle trigger…
