Set screw spacing varies greatly between different models and makes.
This is one of the reasons why we recommend that a barrel only have ONE dimple, directly opposite the gas port.
That dimple location will always work, regardless of what block is used.
I have been running the Geissele block on two builds, I have also put about 3k through one of the builds and only dimpled the barrel and set screwed the GB. On one of the builds I recently switched out the Geissele Nitride GB for a SLR adjustable to run suppressed and the set screw holes do not match up. In the future I am taking M4C advice and doing the one hole. Anyway Geissele pretty much makes amazingly strong everything so I would not worry about running them too hard. I have full confidence in their GBs.
That link doesn’t work for me. I don’t think I have any gas block instructions around, either, and I’m using a gas block from the spares bin. Don’t think I’ve ever seen about dimpling a nitrided barrel either.
Exactly. The rear screw hole will always line up.
Agreed, that one should align fine, the other adds preload to pull tension on the gas block seal and requires no index.
Well, it’s been dimpled, installed, pinned, and loctite-d. Yeah, that thing isn’t going anywhere!
