I received my new DMR yesterday and was attempting to adjust the 1st stage. As per the instructions when I bent the legs on the trigger spring up with pliers I ended up creating a light but very rough 1st stage. Trigger reset was rough as well. I was wondering what everyone else did to lighten up the pull and still keep that smooth “springy” reset.
Pictures of what your spring looks like as well as the tool used would be especially helpful.

I seem to recall that the difference between the service rifle trigger and the DMR is that the DMR comes with a lighter 1st stage spring to begin with, like around 2 pounds. That may be the problem. You are trying to get it lighter than practical. The instructions (I am assuming rather than going to look) may be focused on the service rifle trigger spring. I would contact Bill and ask. You may want to get a new spring and go with it as is. That should still yield a 2/1ish or 3 lb total pull. Once you have played with it for a while, you might conclude that the most important number is the second stage pull. YMMV.
Yes SPR1 you are correct, but I also have a Geissele match trigger that is supposed to have a heavier 1st stage, but that is not the case. The 1st stage on the match trigger was not modified at all and is lighter. For some reason the 1st stage on my DMR is heavier.
I hope not to have to contact Geissele and wait again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had a rough first stage as well. Turned out the trigger was dragging on side of selector. Instructions tell how to fix this. The test I did was my first stage was a bit gritty if put a bit of pressure on safety left to right. right to left the problem went away. tooks a wee bit off left SIDE of selector notch. All it takes is a hair of filing / grinding. Obviously don’t touch the bottom of shelf
This may be your problem.
BTW - I have CMC , Timney , RRA etc in my ARs…the Geissle is my favorite by far!
When I installed my DMR I happened to have a new Daniel Defense selector on hand as a spare. The DD selector was wide enough without needing any modifications and the first stage pull was very smooth from the get-go.
I did not bend the spring legs and the 1st stage pull came in at 2 Lbs 14 oz. )Total pull is right at 4 lbs even.)
IMO, the second stage instructions are a bit tricky the first time through. I suggest to follow them and then reset everything and do it a second time.
There are actually three first stage springs available:
Match - 2 lb
DMR - 3 lb
Service - 4 lb
The match spring set also uses a lighter disconnector spring to lighten the weight of the break.
My Hi-Speed trigger was supposed to come with all of the spring sets, but what I got was a Service trigger and a match spring set, and no DMR spring. I was told to mix and match the springs for the DMR setup - match 1st stage and service 2nd stage. Other vendors are stating the DMR weights are 2 lb first stage an 1-1.5 pound second stage, which is consistent with this.
However, I talked to Bill and he told me about the 3 lb DMR spring, and sent me one for $7.50 with shipping. But he also said the Match spring legs could be bent to achieve the same result.
I’ve ended up using the DMR 1st stage and Service second stage set for 3 lb 1st, and 1 lb 2nd, for a total of 4 lbs.
I had to modify a selector on a buddies gun to get it to function… the selector/trigger tail interference sounds like a good thing to check.

It does not appear as though the selector switch is the problem. When I bend the trigger spring back into the original position the trigger resets correctly without any roughness. In other words it has that nice positive reset that we all love on these Geissele triggers. I will be contacting Geissele to get the match springs and that should clear everything up.
