Gear sector scout light mount and Troy BUIS use?

I would like to put a Surefire M300 on my Centurion Arms rail, using the Gear Sector offset mount, however it looks as if it will be extremely close.

I’m not too sure anyone has this exact setup, but is anyone close?

It looks like there is a rifle or 2 in the last few pages of the AR pic thread with this set up on other rails. I’m sure that if it’ll work on those rails, it’ll work on the Centurian rail.

Not sure about that particular setup but I did have mounting issues with LT and KAC rails with KAC BUIS. You might have to move the light back a couple notches to clear the buis or vice versa. Looking at the clearance I don’t think any BUIS would fit in the same spot as the GS mount. On my rails there is around 1/16th clearance.

Well, I have LT rails as well and it would definitely not fit on those but the Centurion Arms rails appear to have substantially more room between the 9:00 and 12:00 rail than the LT rail does. (At least 1/4", maybe more) The Centurion 9:00 rail is lower and further out, away from the top rail.

I guess I will just have to try and see, if not I can play around with moving it back a bit.

Good Luck…I spent several weeks with my setup and had to heavily modify both the GS mount and the M300’s feet. Ultimately it was well worth it but the risk was extremely high as in costly if it didn’t work out ultimately.

All of this is exactly why I dumped my LT rail and went back to mostly KAC. The smaller outer diameter was a selling point that I saw pushed, but it never occurred to me how that would affect placement of various accessories along the rail.

Thanks. This is exactly what I was looking for. I think I will stick with the OEM mount and put up with shitty activation.

Actually I’m running virtually that exact same concept pictured.

DD Mk 18 rail
Surefire M600C
Gear sector offset mount
SR rail switch
KAC fold down front sight.

It’s been the most user friendly set up I’ve come across in years of various configurations. I also have a M300 light that I’m getting ready to purchase a gear sector for.

Am I misunderstanding or are we running basically what you would like to do?

I just put a gear sector mount on my M600C and it definitely will not work with a Troy front BUIS on a Centurion rail (or any rail for that matter) if the light is pushed to the front.

The gear sector offset mount places the feet of the light about 1/4" away from the top rail, not enough room for the BUIS to fit without moving it 6 slots to the rear.

If I put the light where yours is at, it will work but will be too far back for tailcap activation. I think I am just going to use the OEM mount

That’s fine, of course, but if you ever have inclination to try it that SR rail switch is phenomenal.

I don’t really like tape switches.

I deleted the images, however the gist of it is that I prefer the precise activation of a tail cap and I don’t have room for a switch using my current grip with the accessories I have on a 9" rail.

I hear you. I used to like the push button end caps myself but the more I used them the more I’d have the light going off and on under recoil. I saw a pic on here one day of the tape switch being ran on the 12:00 rail and tried it. I was happiest in that regard.

I really do like the concept, and now that I am running my laser at 3:00 I may be able to do it but until I have any issues I will keep it the way it is, you know, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

The tape switch activation with the thumb seems very ergonomic.

Yeah it sort of just fell into fit with me when I noticed the pics of the switch on the 12:00 rail and then started reading some of Kyle Defoor’s writings on rolling the thumb over the top of the rail.

Using a handstop, the SR07 with thumb activation feels very natural and is extremely ergo friendly. By running a top rail SR07, you get an ambidextrous WL setup.

Move the sight forward or back, and don’t forget you can spin it around and have it fold forward, too.
