I have a Stag Arms 16" upper and want to cut it down to 13" and have a Noveske KX3 flash suppressor permanently attached. will this affect the functioning of the rifle??? And the reliability??? Thanks inadvance…
You will lose velocity. I wouldnt do it personally unless its a mall gun.
I know about the velocity but I’am wondering if I need the gas port drilled out…
First off, you need to go back to 13.6" or 13.7" in order for the barrel to be over 16" with a permanent KX3.
Second, the expansion chamber in the KX3 will MORE THAN make up for the loss of the 2.5" or so if barrel you are cutting off.
It’s very unlikely that the gas port would NEED to be opened up.
Most likely, it could even be made smaller due to the backpressure of the KX3.
Who are you going to have do the shorten/thread/permanent attach?
To be honest with you I was going to send it to you at ar15 barrels but after reading all those nasty thing about you in ar15.com i was going to go with adco. I really cant have to much of a long turn around…
Dont believe everything you read on BARF.com. I wouldnt have a problem sending anything to Randall and that includes my customers stuff and believe me I hate to get bitched at by customers ![]()
Consider the source.
Randall does great work for a great price with quick turnaround time. For something like this I would expect 2-3 weeks tops.
I’ve seen comparable work by others in the industry and can’t recommend them.
xxxxx
I sent two uppers to Randall to have him install Larue Rails and perm attach flashhiders. The turn around including the 4th of July weekend was about 3 and a half weeks. No big deal time-wise and he did a great job. He does great work and I highly recommend him.
All the nasty talk on arfcom is about orders for custom barrels made from scratch, not simple service work like threading jobs.
For every complaint you hear, there are 100 other happy customers.
+1,000,000 for Randall!!!
madcop94, My experience with AR15 barrels was first rate. You can use Randall’s services with confidence.
I agree, send it to Randall. He knows barrels, but lets not bash ADCO. I have had them do a few jobs and they are good to go as well.
Oh absolutely. Any dealings I’ve ever had with ADCO has been excellent.
