I am trying to determine the level of interest for M4 Carbine members in getting gages made for the M16/M4. These gages would be exact copies of the ones listed in TM 9-1005-319-23&P.
Essentially there would be a headspace gage, firing pin protrusion gage, taper plug gage (lower receiver) taper plug gage (firing pin hole), bore erosion gage and barrel straightness gage. It would also include the carrier key tool used to straighten the lips on the carrier key.
If possible you should include a copy of the TM and maybe a video demo for people that are not familiar with the process.
Any idea what the price point would be?
Who is going to make it?
I might be interested depending on the cost. Honestly, I only know what a few of those things you listed are actually for but in my learning process, being able to get a grouping of the correct tools/gages needed for specialized tasks put together by a qualified armorer could only be a plus.
ETA: Oops just realized it was a poll. I voted “Yes, but it would need to be affordable” but I just as easily could have picked “I don’t know what you are talking about” 
The TM is widely available on the net. However, I have considered including the relevant sections of the TM to show how the gaging should be done.
Not sure at this point as I am still exploring options. They will be made to the exact tolerances as the ones used by the military.
The gages are fairly simple.
The barrel erosion gage is inserted into the rear of the receiver with the carrier only in place. The gage is marked with a reject line and if it fails then you rebarrel the weapon.
Headspace gage measures the headspace.- Pretty self explanatory.
Firing Pin Protrusion gage measures how much the firing pin protrudes through the bolt face when assembled to the carrier
Taper Plug gage measures the holes in the lower receiver. Military lowers are .154. The gage is marked reject at .163. This will let you know if your holes are worn or out of spec.
Plug gage for the firing pin measures wear of the hole. If the gage penetrates then you are supposed to replace the bolt.
Barrel straightness gage is dropped into a clean barrel and used to determine if the barrel is straight. Usually only an issue when firing full auto mag dumps.
Key carrier tool essentially is used for the opening of the carrier key. Insert it into the key and using light taps you can straighten (round out) the carrier key opening.
Not sure of the cost at this point. My goal is to make it affordable for the masses. So there will have to be some middle ground. Just do some research and you will find that two of the gages alone cost almost 60.00.
The gaging process is quite simple. And yes, like Iraqgunz says, the gages are not cheap.
I have headspace gauges, and a firing pin gauge, but I would love to get a hold of the other gauges - sign me up!
