That is a bit harsh. Is she reacting emotionally to being a victim of a HORRIBLE crime yes. Is that understandable yes. Does it make her right no. How about some compasion! The best response is to use fact and not emotion and not slam the victims of violent crime just because their misguided.

If he had the opportunity to have a “do over” and he could have been present at the Loughner shooting with a handgun, would he want a full capacity magazine or a NY approved magazine?
And if given the option, would he prefer an AR-15 to a handgun?
She’s a nice lady and was shot in the fucking head. Don’t make a fuss about her impairment, it only makes you look bad.
We all wonder… and it DOESN’T MATTER.
My cousin was shot by her ex-husband (former cop) and he also shot her fiance (sorry spelling) in a resturant back in the 1980’s when I was a young kid. My reaction to that was I never want to be unarmed. My aunts reaction was to become moderately anti gun. (does not like handguns or non hunting weapons) no amount of argueing can change her mind and it brings back painful memorys. Victims of violent crime react differently. Some can never do the activity they were doing when they were assualted. Rape victims often never have a normal relationship again. So while I don’t agree with Giffords reaction to her attack. I do empathize with her and my heart goes out to her. That is why I feel its best to use facts and not emotions when we make our case.

While it is a tragedy what happened & no one that I know thinks contrary, to use that as a springboard for other agendas is unforgivable.
Other tragic events in our history such as Abe Lincoln’s, JFK’s, His brother, MLK assassins et alia were all able to be efficacious in their agendas w/o a 10 round or Hi Cap Mags…

What happened to her is a tragedy, but she’s now a puppet. Her husband is pulling a Cristina Kirchner, he wants in to politics and is riding this as far as he can. He’s a shitty person in general. Even immediately following the attack he was a sleazeball. Even her treatment in the trauma unit and ICU and following was a political circus.
As much as it pains me to say, she’s got the mental capacity of a child and is nothing but a prop these days. She got the shitty end of the deal and she’s being played. It’s despicable.

Victims see guns as a reminder of their pain and they want their pain to go away. So they don’t buy reminders/guns, ask their friends not to buy guns, and try to disarm everyone.
They probably aren’t doing it consciously. It’s an emotional response and you can’t really blame them. But when a drunk driver kills people we don’t blame the alcohol, the alcoholism, or the car. We blame the individual and remove that person’s privilege to drive. The punishment for unjustified gun violence should basically boil down to the death penalty. But we shouldn’t blame the guns. And we shouldn’t “put down” people with mental disorders (I haven’t seen anyone say this yet) just because they have one.

People do give a shit if not this would not be an issue. However the antigunners are misguided in their belief that gun control will make things better because it won’t. Pro gunners also care and we want to attack the problem through a more productive means in arming people so they can defend themselves.
