GA - Constitutional Carry

Hopefully Georgia will be joining Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming by becoming the 5th state to adopt “Constitutional Carry” removing the necessity to obtain a concealed carry permit in order to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights in public.

Go here to read the actual bill, HB 679.

Good on them.

While I like the concept, I also like having the permit that also allows me to carry in other states.

You would still have the option of getting a permit for reciprocity issues in other states.

I think TX is going this route as well! It’s about time.

Go GA! Good news. That will simplify some of the answers I give on the topic from curious citizens, or assholes that try to provoke me w/ thier bullshit.

Another reason I should have taken that job a Ft Benning.

VA should jump on this bandwagon while we have the chance.

I don’t see it passing. We have passed quite a few gun-friendly laws the past couple of years, but this is a little to much for the legislature I think.

One thing that bugged me though is that I saw the Savannah Police Chief on the news claiming that this law would put his “officers in more danger” because they wouldn’t know who is carrying and who isn’t. They wouldn’t be in any more danger than they already are by criminals in Savannah. To create a happy medium they should just add an amendment requiring a person carrying to inform the officer or something.

Savannah, oh my God. There isn’t a city anywhere else in the South that I felt like I had to CCW more than that place. Its a dark city.

Going to Savannah to visit in-laws soon. Not a fan. Hot, crime-ridden, and the entitlement mentality people in droves.

Its not THAT bad. I feel fairly safe walking around the more busy parts of downtown during the day, and southside is safe as well. Night time, or in the more shady neighborhoods, I don’t want to be walking around with out carrying.

Good luck, Georgia.

Hopefully Virginia will work toward this as well.

Increased freedoms are worth pursuing.

I hope Texas goes this route soon.
