G2X Tactical on AR?

I need a light for my rifle and I have been looking at this IWC SMC MOE mount with G2X tactical for a while. Has anyone mounted this light on their rifle? Does it stand up to recoil/abuse?

Yep, I have been using one in a Vtac mount for about two years now with no issues.

I’ve had great luck with them.

I have one that’s lived on a 7.62x39 AK for about 3000 rounds. It’s had the rifle fall on it, it’s been dropped, banged around, etc. No problems at all. Also have one that’s been on an AR for about 1000 rounds or so, it’s still working great as well. I have several Pro’s around the house, as well, that get dropped, roll off counters, slung around in the back of the Jeep, etc. all the time. I trust them.

It’s important to note that Surefire doesn’t call it a weapon light, so while they are generally accepted to be good to go, Surefire makes no guarantees.

EAG has been using those for years without problems on their fleet rifles.

Thanks for the quick responses guys, I’m going to order it this afternoon!

A fine set up. Ran one for some times before going to a dd rail and Scout light. The only knock I would put to it against the Scout is that the it is a bit heavier and the beam is not as tight. But then again at a third the price of the Scout it is a fair trade off.

No problems here. I use the Surefire G2X with a DD offset light mount. The rail is a Magpul cantilever.

From what I was told the beam is different because it’s really made for use as a handheld search light vs a mounted weapon light.

Ordered it, thanks for the responses guys.

It is. But again, depends on your wants and needs and if you prefer a tight beam or a beam with lots of spill. For HD work I don’t think it will matter much to many. Also, as I said, at a third the cost, it is a damn fine set up.

The G2X tactical has a little more spill than an M300B or M600U. Not much, though. Certainly less than a Fury or Elzetta. I’ve had one in use as a weapon light for over a year, and it works fine. Back when they were ~$50 it was a really good deal, in my opinion.

You can buy a G2X tactical from Amazon for $56.

Get it for $49 http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/surefire-g2x-tactical-single-output-led/

Well, there you go. Less than $50. The only other downside to the G2X tactical is the tail cap. Not exactly great compared to a Scout with a Z68.

I will probably order one also to replace a heavier Streamlight TL-2x.
The current rail piece needs to be changed, the 2 screws are wallowed out.
Need to drill them out, then replace with a Magpul cantilever rail.
This is what I have now on the Spike’s Middy.

G2X is what I am currently using and it works great in that role.

What do you think of that Vltor mount / G2x combination? Does the AD lever tighten both the mount / rail connection AND the mount / light connection? I’d love something that holds the light securely, but would allow me to remove the handheld to use as a hand held (for things like finding brass in the dark).

Correct, when you lock down the ADM QD lever, it clamps on to the rail and tightens down on the light.

Unlock the lever and you can remove the mount and slide out the light easily enough. Lock it and it’s rock solid.

As you said, it’s nice being able to use the light as a handheld or shed some weight during daytime shoots.

Just got the light and mount and put it on my rifle. I have to say I am very impressed with both the mount and the light.

Received my order from IWC and installed.

I am impressed with the light and mount. Spoke to Earl on the phone,
then followed up with an email confirming our conversation about product quality
and the employee who shipped the package.
Great people to do business with.
