So it occurred to me that the .45 glocks are a bit wider than the 9mm/.40 frames… And I thought… they had to make the magazine release a tad bit longer too right?
So my question is are they dimensionally the same everywhere else? as that would be a simple magazine release extension that is not crazy long like the factory extended release…or would it be longer? If I had one of the large frame glocks I would try it.
You might wanna look into the Vickers mag release. It’s a little longer than stock but not as long as extended.

The G20/21 mag catch is what comes on the G34/35 from the factory.
ah I did not know that :help: I guess that answers if it makes it not stick out quite as far as the g34 release… Oh well, glad the vickers release exists 
At work I have installed several extended mag releases on issued G17s. I often sand the button end down to where the shooter wants it, then stipple.
Easy to do, cheaper than a Vickers part.
