G19 with RMR IWB holster questions

Those of you carrying a G19 with an RMR mounted at the conventional location in front of the rear sights; what brand of holster are you using, what is your cant angle, does the RMR ride above your waist line?

I recently received my first holster for the my G19 with RMR and elected for their mid height and 22.5 degree forward cant. I elected the 22.5 degrees because it closely matches the Milt Sparks holster I’ve previously been using prior to adding the RMR and it has worked well. I’m able to get a full firing grip on the gun and it conceals well.

With this new holster I’m able to get a full firing grip, but the RMR rides below the my waist band and inside the pants. This significantly slows down my draw and re-holstering.

I believe a holster designed for a pistol with RMR in mind should ride high enough so that the RMR sits above the waist band.

Vedder Lite tuck or Phlster spotlight if using a weapon light…I’m using both AIWB so there is no cant. The RMR rides above the waste line with both holsters. The Vedder is usable at 3 o’clock iwb, spotlight pretty much only as a Aiwb.

Gunfightersinc both iwb and owb. Neither are adjustable for cant. I prefer straight up and down but the iwb seems to cant slightly, 5 degrees maybe, when carried at 3:00. The RMR sits above my waistline. The holster is not tuckable FWIW.

I’m also generally in an Ares gear belt, which definitely keeps everything in place.

I typically carry AIWB with the Vanguard 3 and occasionally with the Perun LC. Neither put the RMR below my Ares belt. Full Roland Special build.

Are you carrying AIWB or strong side?

Strong side, just behind the hip.

Thanks all for the responses.

I recently got one of these off Amazon and it’s holding up pretty well

Eidolon works very well for that

Unfortunately they don’t have one for the TLR7; I do like their products.

The holster company is doing me a solid and building another one at a discount. Knowing now they’re going to reduce the cant and increase the ride height. I’ll update when it’s all squared away.

I ran an Eidolon with the WML removed and with the holster behind the hip strongside, the RMR was just above my belt.

I carry a G17 length pistol (have been for about 2 years now) with RMR in AIWB with this:

I have been carrying AIWB since around 2008, and I will never give up the distinct advantages of AIWB over IWB as long as I can physically carry that way.

Dark Star Gear and JM Custom Kydex well have strong side IWB options available for you. I personally carry a G19.5 with RMR and TLR7 in a Phlster Spotlight AIWB. Unless I gain a lot of weight I won’t go back to strong side IWB.

Wanted to update that DARA holsters took care of me.

Most of us understand a quality holster is going to cost money and DARA makes quality holsters. They offer so many configurations with cant and ride height that they build it to what you specify. My first holster was built perfectly to my specs, I’m the guy that spec’d a holster with so much forward cant that the RMR sat below my belt line. This meant for a slow draw as the optic was getting hung up sitting inside my pants instead of above it.

The new holster is 15 degrees and rides higher, allowing a full grip on the gun with the RMR sitting above the belt line which is perfect.

So on one hand it’s nice that they offer options to the customer, but the customer should also have an idea of what may and may not work. It’s like if Ford allowed customers to configure an F350 with a 4-cylinder and front wheel drive. They’ll build it for you but it may not work out that well.

Good to know. Since we’re on the topic, I just ordered a Phlster Floodlight to replace my VG3 and I have been very pleasers with it.

I got a IWB from JM Custom and love it, it’s my 3rd CCW holster for my RMR G19 and finally found the perfect answer.
