I would seriously enjoy reading the history of anything if it were written like this. Take this with a grain of salt, as the facts could vary.

I think that was taken directly from my college honors history professor, but with more profanity. And don’t read the comments, or your head might explode.
Ugh. We are doomed.
I didn’t bother reading the comments. The comments on any article having to do with firearms on my local newspaper website is enough to make my head explode.
I generally don’t get very upset, because I realize it’s usually a persons emotions, that cloud their judgement, and not fact. I cannot counter them with rational thought, so instead, I bark at them like a dog.
You need to grow up a bit. History doesn’t have to be written by ill-informed cartooners to be interesting.

You are absolutely correct! Have you asserted your maturity and intellectual superiority now?
When you’re done judging me based on the limited information provided by my posts on this forum, some of which have been made from a Devil’s Advocate position, could you let me know? I’d like to compare notes to reality.
I’m actually quite fond of history and took an interest in it outside of the classroom. I was a volunteer and docent at a history museum while in high school and beyond. I currently volunteer as program area lead for a program that teaches high school students how our government works, how to write bills, how to speak in public, how to debate respectfully, etc. All of the students write their own bills, run for the various state offices and it culminates with a trip to our state capitol where they run a mock legislature with their own bills and elected student leadership for 4 days. I have been doing this for 14 years now.
I also enjoy humor. When humorous twist is put on historical events, I enjoy it even more.
In the interest of fairness, I will point out that my interests and activities do not exclude me from being and immature idiot.
You sir, could lighten up when you enter a post that begins with “Funny: 5 reasons our Founding Fathers were kind of dicks.”
First you post this:
I would seriously enjoy reading the history of anything if it were written like this.
Then you post this:
So which is it, do you need to have your history put into cartoons or do you run a museum and help blind children cross the road?

Geezus…people will argue about the stupidest things.
I spent more time on the comments than reading the article. . … that was pretty amazing. It is like an unholy blend of poor scholarship and pissant whinny pseudointellectuals who’are pissed off that we haven’t given the keys to the city to the Taliban yet. Ah well, the Brits will be bowwing to Mecca and experiencing freedom from religion soon enough (Alah or headlessness).
I spent a lot of time at Dumbarton Oaks while getting my degree. You think you know history? Try researching it in Old Church Slavonic and a host of other dead languages. US history is clown-shoes by comparison.
Based on that, the Cracked analysis, if one were to take it at all seriously, of the “why’s” and “whereforeartthouasmuch’s” regarding the Founders has some pretty glaring gaps in it that would make an actual historical researcher bury his face in his hands and start sobbing uncontrollably…
…except for the fact that it comes from Cracked and can be pretty much automatically dismissed. It’s just a bunch of otherwise unpublished author morons trying to channel a Tucker Max storytelling style…and failing.
No need to get wrapped around the axle over it. Mad Libs were funny to all of us when we were 8 freakin’ years old, too.
“I would seriously enjoy reading the history of anything if it were written like this.”
“I only enjoy reading history written like this.”
If you cannot tell the difference between these two sentences, there is nothing more to say.
