Fun at the range today

A friend brought two new Kimbers to the range today, a tactical 5 in. (rail & magwell) and a 3" SIS ( I have an identical one). The SIS models have no internal safety (unfortunately they’ve been discontinued by Kimber). Both pistols were extremely well-fitted, and the trigger on the five inch was close to or the same as my Les Baer- about 3 1/2 lbs. and very crisp. Both pistols were great shooters, although I “cheated” with the little puppy. Because of its short sight radius, I shot it offhand at about 7 yrds. while I shot the 5 incher at about 12 yards. We were very fortunate for Jan. in Colorado as it was about 45 degrees with no wind. BTW I wasn’t totally spunging off my buddy since I brought my Stag Mdl. 1 and S&W 15-22 for him to shoot. He reluctantly handed each back to me after he was through with a big grin on his face. His groups with both were about as good as mine. WB

They make a pretty good 1911 don’t they. I just sold off my CDP pro and I am missing it already. I have been told before never to sell off an old gun. Perhaps I should have listened.

Don’t look back, Eye, just forward! There are a lot more Kimbers out there to be had. The “Pro” (4") length is a really good compromise- still reliable and accurate while light and short enough to carry. WB

I’ve really enjoyed the two Kimbers I have, a Warrior (older one) and a Pro CDP II. Both have been extremely reliable and accurate.
Glad to see I’m not the only one with this experiance.
