I am looking to do a full custom build and am looking for a company to do a matched upper/lower receiver set in billet, although forged is fine as well. also looking to have my own engravings and custom serial numbers. possibly registered as a SBR as well. having the ability to get one in 5.56 and 7.62 NATO would be great.
i am looking to do my own full custom builds to my specs with the engravings and serial number to be personalized. planning these builds as graduation presents to myself and my wife from college.
ETA: i did find Fidelis Arms online and shot them an email over a month ago with no response. i also remember seeing that they dont do class 3 engravings anymore but couldnt find the same last time i looked at their site. maybe i am misremembering?
Or buy an 80% lower and do the rest of the work on your own if you’re capable. You can have anybody do the engraving of the serial numbers and logo. Just mill out the parts that need milling and enjoy a custom build.
Iron ridges work looks great…But the money you will spend on a matching stripped lower and upper set from them you could almost build a complete rifle using other well known manufactures parts.
have been researching the 80% builds. seems interesting. that looks to be as custom as i can get.
if i finish an 80% lower and mark it properly, can i register it as a sbr? or not since it isnt registered before that time? not really sure how that would work out.
I don’t see why the ATF would care if you made an SBR out of a lower you built or a lower that someone else built. It would be the same process of filling out a Form 1 as if you were to buy a stripped lower and put together your own SBR or if you cut a 16 inch barrel down.
