I have been looking to build a tricked out glock 19 for target and possibly carry. I am not a big fan of the factory trigger, but dont mind it at all since thats all I ever shot my glocks on. I was looking into the fulcrum trigger drop in unit. Has anyone have any experience with this unit first hand. reliability, installment, trigger time etc. any input is much appreciated, because I am in the market for one of these. Just trying to get as much feedback as possible( I dont have time to go searching around the net. I just wanted some input from you guys)
I shot one and it was pretty slick (very crisp, no overtravel) but I wouldn’t ever use it in a carry gun. The Fulcrum kit uses a reduced power striker spring among other things to get that light trigger. The one I shot was around 2lbs, waaaaay too light for carry.
Gaming equipment is ≠ fighting equipment.
If you want a lighter trigger with good reliability stick with factory Glock parts. The factory connector and trigger bar with polishing in the right places and a polished safety plunger yields a ~4.5-5lb trigger with a fairly crisp break. If you shoot from the reset like you should, a Glock trigger (in my experience at least) is somewhat similar to a slightly heavy 1911 trigger. The other day at the range I was interchangeably shooting my 19 with the abovementioned mods and a buddies stock 17 with the 8# connector and I could still hit 8’’ plates at 35 yards with the same regularity using either gun so take that for what it’s worth.
I would NOT use a fulcrum trigger for any type of defensive application for the same reasons that wesprt mentioned. That said if you decided that you wanted to use it for that purpose, leave the stock striker spring in and you will have reliable ignition and a slightly heavier trigger pull.
The fulcrum is silky smooth and very short. It is a great and easy to shoot trigger for competition or range use. Vanek triggers are also terrific, and on a cheaper budget the glocktriggers are also worth a look.
Wow I just looked at the price at Brownells for that kit and it sure is pricey. I’ve never used one, and I’m pretty content with the “-” Disconnector and NY1 spring to bother with anything else. Good luck, if you do buy one let us know how it works out for you.
