front sling mount removal(LMT)?

im assuming this is a pin of some sort?that just needs punched from the “bowl” side(without the head)?havent seen one before and i dont want to do it wrong.

thanks in advance…

A 1/16" punch will do the trick. I would save the swivel if you ever what it there again.

I’ve wailed away on a couple that were riveted in quite nicely. What a PITA. I took a cutoff wheel to them. A touch from a black paint pen on the shiny metal and I was good to go.

yeah,i pounded on it a little…didnt seem to get anywhere.wasnt sure if i was doing something wrong.

…just punch it from the “inny” side then correct?if that doesnt work, time to cut?

a punch from the “inny” side will work. just make sure you are using the right sized punch and hit it hard.

if the punch doesn’t work, you could use a drill. i’d do that before i used a dremel cutoff wheel. it’s only a stupid rivet.

ok,i was just worried about banging too much on the FSB.

thanks all.

Sturdy punch and a hammer and it should come out in a couple of whacks.

Should’ve used some man on that hammer!

Ya don’t be kind. Give it a good few hits and it will go.

 i’ll eat my Wheeties in the morning.

i was affraid to bang on the FSB too hard, should it be braced?

…guess it couldnt hurt.

In our shop we drill-out the rivet with an undersized bit, then brace it & tap out with a punch. Clean, neat & no damage.

Yes brace the barrel and FSB.

Not a bad way to do it. I have knocked a bunch of them out without any damage with the hammer and punch method. I had a batch of LMT uppers come in that the customers wanted removed. The rivet came out easily on all of them. I decided to keep one of the uppers for myself and it took forever to get that little sucker loose.
