Front Sight Zero Problem

Greetings,

I have a brand new Colt 6940 and took it to the range today to zero my sights (including a RDS). Could not zero my front sight because I could not adjust the elevation. I am able to push the front sight post detent but could not turn the front sight post. It seems frozen. I had a NRA instructor look at it as well and he came to the same conclusion. He showed me how his AR works and the front sight post turns fairly easy. We put a little CLP on it but again it seems frozen…we did not force it too hard but did put a little pressure and no go.

Any suggestions?

Mark

Did you try turning it both ways? Could it be all the way down? If that doesn’t work send it back and let Colt fix it .

yes…tried both ways…do believe it was all the way down…I will call Colt tomorrow unless any other suggestions…thanks

Soak it in some lube. It may have just frozen up.

Dump some lube or penetrating oil in it and let it sit. Then, using a front sight adjustment tool, remove and reinstall it.
