I recently purchased a Colt LE6920MP and this is my first AR. I have to say so far I couldn’t be happier with my choice. The only thing I dislike with the rifle is the front sight center post. Being all black it blends into background of many targets. I’m debating whether to change out the center post or simply put a little white paint on it. I will be adding some optics to it in a few months but want to doing something to make the sights a little better for now and of course to use as backup. What have you guys and girls done with yours?

Take some time to get used to it. I prefer a plain black sight myself
I find it hard to pick up quickly. All but one of my pistols have a white dot front sight and I can pick those up very quickly. The one without the white dot has a green fiber optic front and it is wonderful.

All the M16 variants I used in the Army had plain black sights. Tritium front sight posts were available for Army M16’s, but I never saw one in use.
I did not have any real problems with the stock front site. It seems the best answer is an optical device.
You don’t want a light colored sight post. When you shine your light on a target in low light, the FSB will be easiest to pick up if it’s black.
There’s no perfect sight post color, but black is the best overall compromise.
These probably are not the answers you were looking for or hoping to hear but I would have to agree with Markm.
+1 to Mark. Black offers the most contrast to most lighting/color scenarios. It’s not perfect for everything, but it is the best. Best to get used to it!
