Front sight post wobble?

Have noticed that my front sight post has the slightest amount of wobble to it.
Is there anyway that this can be fixed?

Loctite!

Just kidding. You’re going to be able to get the post to wiggle a little if you fingerbang it but unless it’s excessive, and you’re getting significant horizontal stringing on the target, I wouldn’t worry about it.

You can run a 8x36 set screw up from the bottom. You may have to remove the FSP and chase the FSB threads with a tap tho.

I just had a set of new DD sights arrive and the front sight post wobbles. I’m having the same concerns. I guess I’ll just shoot them first, and fix them if I notice problems. Glad to know loc-tite fixes everything

Is it the post itself or the front sight base (big A frame thingie)?

The post itself should have some movement, though since it is spring loaded by the detent/lockbutton it will return to the same place when shot or bumped etc. I doubt it will cause any issues.

This. I’ve heard that service rifle guys do this.

Is the post at mechanical zero with the base? If you have to unscrew it too much to zero then it will really wobble. That can happen if you zero the irons using a commercial height front sight base.

this coupled with the set screw up from the bottom should make darn sure the sight won’t be moving.

once your “0” is set, the set screw will assure there will be NO movement.

seems like a good idea that requires little time and effort to initiate with desirable results; i’m on the way to do mine…
