Anyone have a good fix for play in the front lug of the upper/lower connection? The issue is that the front lug of the upper (LMT) is a hair narrower than the space between the front lugs of the lower(Stag). Not fixed by accuwedge. Thanks.
Try slipping a #6 or #7 o-ring around the front lug. The o-ring will sandwich between the upper and lower when assembled. I put the halves together, inserted the rear pin first, then the front pin. It took a bit of man-hand to get them together. You may need to go to higher or lower thicknesses depending on the amount of wobble.
If the ring breaks during reassembly, you need a smaller ring. Buy a bunch of them once you find what works, as they are cheap. I got mine from Home Depot or Lowes, can’t remember, but they weren’t hard to find.
I did this with a really loose A2 for qual a few years ago when I had a position that did not require a permanent issue personal M16. Mine lasted for as long as it was on, but that was only for 2 weeks. It worked fine, but it’s necessity is definately debatable.
