I did a search for “Froglube Knives” and didn’t get any hits. Does anyone use it on their blades, or is there something more preferred? I have an Esee 6 Plain Edge on the way, and while not as top dollar as some others, it will be the nicest one I own.
Also, any suggestions on sharpening, and kit to keep in the accessory pouch mini-tin? So far, I have a magnesium fire starter.
You can use just about anything on knives. In fact, one really simple method us to use the oil from the sides of your nostrils (outside, not snot) to protect the blade.
For sharpening: diamond stone. Cuts fastest, easiest maintenance.

if you’re worried about rust on the blade, just about any oil/CLP will work if you use the knife then clean it and oil it. even the froglube is going to get worn off, depending how you use it.
for long term rust protection, I trust Eezox. it’s also a pretty good lube but I have found it to gum up small parts if applied too heavy and not wiped off like recommended. this shouldn’t be an issue with a knife…
I run froglube paste on all my knives. Great for working around food, since 99% of what I do with most of my knives while camping/canoeing is food prep work. Kept a Winkler II field knife rust free this morning after shanking 2 Bar hogs, and 3 sows. Including the dressing out if the above mentioned 5 for sausage.
Thanks for the replies, guys. The “non-toxic” attributes of Froglube didn’t even cross my mind. I think it will be easy to just stick with the FL, as it has worked well with my firearms.
As far as what to keep in the tin, all I can come up with is fire starting gear. Maybe a couple water purification tabs, small compass, signal mirror, etc.
My EDC Benchmade auto’s mechanism was getting a little sluggish, so I ran it through a sonic cleaner, then applied some FL. Now it opens with as much authority as when it was new.
