I am picking out parts for my upper and have decided to use the daniel defense 9.0 lite hand guard. I know that daniel defense uses there own barrel nut but do I still need to buy the delta ring?

no. you’d only need the delta ring in case of using the omega 7, 9 or 12 (and not the omega X)
