It’s velocity dependent, so around 2250 +/- 50FPS
I contacted “Hornady” and they said their 75 gr bthp 223 will fragment at speeds as low as 1300fps with a 16inch barrel…This is not TAP or LEO TAP but standard 223 ammo…:DStill curious about PPU 75 gr…

That sounds fairly optimistic…
(And I don’t think it matters what the barrel length is - 1300fps is 1300fps.

You’re going to have to approach your question in a matter of degrees. Are you looking for 90+% chance of fragmentation, down to 50%, or lower? I don’t have the answers but, wanted to help you frame your question for someone who may.
Different bullets from different manufacturer’s.
I need to know the lowest speed in fps for the bullet to fragment…That should give me the max range for engagement…
I am bit curious. Hornady says that their 75 grainers will fragment down to 1300 or so fps and I have read nearly everywhere that it is 2200 fps. I wonder which is correct. Anyone know for SURE. And yeh, I know it is dependenat on a few different factors but that is a dramatic difference.
Any testing done down to lets say even 2000 fps?
