Form 4 instructions

My Form 3 is complete and my suppressor arrived at my local FFL.

He told me that since I am using a trust I do not need to sign the copies of the Form 4. He even showed me the ATF paperwork that says so.

I’m just curious if anyone else does this? Or do you sign it just incase as the “Grantor”? (Thats what I did for my SBR, but two different animals I guess)

It can be argued both ways also some say the questions dont have to be answered either. I fill mine out completely as the Grantor and Trustee since the actual Trust is incapable of writing.

I still signed my Form 4’s.

Thats what I figured. It can’t hurt anything I suppose. (Didn’t it only take you ~90 days to get it back anyway?)

Did you put the name of the trust as the name of the Transferee or your name?

I would sign it as MY NAME (Grantor) obviously, but I’m talking about the top line that says Name of Transferee, printed.

My trust is the “xxxx Revocable Living Trust”, and the forms are signed with “signature, grantor and trustee”.

I see now you mean the top line, that’s just “xxxx Revocable Living Trust”. It’s only on the signature lines that I signed my name.

Right about that. And yes I signed it with my legal name, not the trust name.

I simply signed my name as it appeared on the trust and wrote (Trustee) next to it.

This I understand.

I meant where it says “Name of Transferee” in the very first line.

Did you put the name of your trust, or your name?

I just sent out my form 4s and I had the name of the trust there.

So it was

I, IN GOD WE TRUST, certify that I am legal to own blah blah blah to use for the purposes of ENHANCING COLLECTION AND ALL LAWFUL PURPOSES, blah blah blah.

Printed: Eurodriver Grantor Signed: Eurodriver Grantor Date: June XX,xxxx

Yes, that is what I put as well.

A lot depends on the examiner. Not sure how they interpret the need for a signature as I have always signed mine (three so far) but I had a form 1 returned for correction because I put a range of barrel lengths on an SBR conversion, as advised by the vendor I bought a 10.5" upper from. Others have had forms approved by other examiners with a range of barrel lengths indicated. Oh well.

If it says “signature”, I sign it and don’t see any advantage to not signing it.

Getting ready to subit another Form 1 and a 4, and will sign. Not worth it to me not to sign and cause poential further delay.
