Forearm shell carrier

Hey guys,

Trying to find a shell carrier like this one.

This is from Magpul’s ‘Art of the Dynamic Shotgun’, it’s on a Remington 1100.

Now, I’ve managed to find this. http://www.triangleshootingsports.com/otto.htm

But that’s an elastic shell carrier. I would like one that is solid, like the one Travis has there. Does anyone know who makes these?

you could prob get someone like mike at talon tactical or some other kydex type to make one for you.

3 Gun Gear makes something right up your alley: http://3gungear.corecommerce.com/Shotgungear/Forend-Carrier-c26/

That’s the same thing I linked to above, it’s not what I’m looking for specifically. It performs the same function, but it’s based on velcro and nylon. I want something solid like the one Travis has there, so that it is more dependable. Like he says in the video, the one he has there is so sturdy he can use it as a barricade support if he wants to.

Thanks for the tip, awm14hp. It might come down to that. I just figured this was a catalog item somewhere.

I found something similar - http://www.sidearmor.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=71 - however it is not the same. Instead of mounting to the handguard, it mounts onto a rail. I don’t want to add a rail system, as it adds unnecessary weight at the front end of the gun. It can also be problematic on a Benelli M2 type gun as heavy accessories can induce malfunctions.

I’m starting to wonder if Travis didn’t just drill holes in the handguard to fit a belt slide shell pouch to it?

It looks like he modified the Blade-Tech shotshell carrier. They are a little pricey at about $30 if I remember right. I’ve seen the same mod done with a safariland carrier which runs about $6-8. The Blade-Tech holds the shells much farther apart, but takes up more space. The Safariland puts the rounds much closer together, which may or may not be a benefit.

Hm. I’m thinking of something for the custom kydex folks.

Our ‘blade-tech’:

The rounds are easy to grip, but the carrier is a bit bulky and might snag.

Our ‘Safariland’:

More streamlined, less snag hazard, but harder to grasp the rounds under stress.

My idea:

The rounds are close together, but offset, to make it easier to grip them without causing too much of a bulk or snag issue.

I don’t know what it costs to have stuff like that made, though, so I don’t know if it’d be worth it. I guess a cheaper route would be to find a single-shell kydex shell carrier, buy two of them and drill holes for them so that they’re offset. …if I could find a single-shell carrier. :stuck_out_tongue:

I installed this on my Mossberg 930SPX, it is a Safariland 081-12 shotgun shell holder. There isn’t very much clearance inside so I had to measure and cut quite a bit off of the back end. I chose rounds up because over time the recoil will likely cause the rounds to start walking out of the holder.

I believe he mentioned that he did that in the video.
