Well, looks like Arsenal Inc. is finally going to offer one. I never thought I’d see the day.
Factory AKS-74’s…

The polymer side folders would be a clone of the AK-74M.
ETA on availability & price?

Finally able to get a quality factory 5.45 folder!
kal:
MSRP is $1,200!!!
That’s ridiculous.
Explain.
Bear in mind that these aren’t kit builds, these are imported into the US and then unbanned here. Putting a folding stock on an AK isn’t just something you slap on, there’s a fair amount of smithing that needs to be done by someone who knows what they hell they’re doing, plus cost of materials.
Street price will probably be a grand, maybe $1100.00
Took’em long enough. Well done Arsenal.
Come to Papa…
This is exactly what I have been waiting for. Templar, thanks very much for the heads up. I have been wait for this for a long time.

The other SGL31 rifles on the K-Var website aren’t kit guns either. With the omission of the folding stock, the other 5.45mm SGL31’s are upwards of $300 cheaper.
So people will pay $300 more for a folding stock. I don’t agree, but oh well…

Check the cost of the parts, then shop around and see what most smiths who know what they’re doing charge for that conversion. It’s not something you just slap on there.

OMG!!!
I’m getting one…no, TWO!!!
Also, finding a competent AK gunplumber that knows what he’s doing can be an ordeal as well. They don’t grow on trees, thats for sure!
Saw these earlier today, can’t decide on which one

Soviet troop with an AKS-74 in Afghanistan circa 1986…
Russian troops during the 1st Chechen War with AKS-74’s…
Russian troops in Chechnya with AK-74M’s (and AKM’s)…
Templar - realizing that these are SGL series and not SLR series weapons; is it likely that we may see a mass produced 5.45 krink from K-var shortly?
Regardless, I will be buying one of the AK-74M’s when available.
Cheers

Buddy, honestly I have no idea…I don’t have a line into Arsenal Inc. like I used to when I worked for an Arsenal dealer.
It would be cool, that’s or sure…they offered a limited edition of 28 AKSU-74’s that went for $2K…so it might be a possibility.
If only these were available PRIOR to Alabama opening the SBR flood gates! I’ve got all my money tied up in Colt “futures”.
