Has anyone around here had personal experience with this Leatherwood CMR 1-4x24mm scope? Thinking about purchasing one because I need the 4X for mid range but also a red dot for the dark.

Save your coin. The last time someone came into the shop I worked at peddling these, it was like looking through misaligned polarized lenses. The red dot is not centered in the reticle, so where would you zero it? The M30 red dot was even worse. It was a relabled airsoft RDS. Save the money and get a Leupold or Nightforce. I’ve used both and been extremely satisfied. Currently have the Leupold 1.5-5X on a Larue Stealth upper. Talk about tack driver!!
On another note, nothing replaces a true RDS for close work. No variable power optic is even close to being as fast as a dot sight. Make a desicion on what role your LMT will play, and equip it with the optic of choice. But don’t be disillusioned with the thought that 1-4X scopes are the all around king. At best, it’s a band-aid up close. It’ll do, but not near as well as a real RDS.
What 1-4X scopes have you shot with? NF and Leupold?
I just bought a Bushy 4200 1.25-4, I bought it very cheap, under $300. So I watched that video. Interesting and Its probably OK. However, If I went into the $500 range I would move up to the Trijicon or the more well known scopes for a little more.
infidelprodigy, you’re spot on with your comments on reddots vs. 1x4s but in my particular case I need the 4x on the LMT. See, my eyes are getting a bit old for my 150 yard range and since I like accuracy I’ve got to do away with the red dot/laser that currently on it, as much as I hate to. But for close and personal I have my Bushy pistol that’s equiped with both a reddot, laser, and strobe light.
But I am curious, you’re the only person so far on the net that had something negative to say for this particular Leatherwood CMR 1-4x24mm, are you sure we are talking about the same scope?
Pappabear, let me know how your Bushy works out, I have 2 Bushnells and like them a lot! Here’s a picture of my 80s scope on a 7Mag that still functions as new.
