This started out as a S&W lower and DSA mid length fluted upper. I never put anything together before as I previously always bought complete rifles. Excuse my
crappy Pics.

I have read on their web site the barrel is fluted, any savings on the weight ?

There is a noticeable difference in the weight. It also to me at least feels better balanced due to the FSB being further out towards the muzzle. Also while using irons you get a steadier sight picture due to the increase in distance between the front and rear sights.
