As a hopeful, soon-to-be CCW newbie (IL, so I won’t get my hopes up too much), I just rec’d a new Crossbreed Supertuck holster. Upon initial examination and wearing around the house - it is AMAZINGLY comfortable! I can see why so many folks like them from that pov.
HOWEVER - I’ve ridden saddles that squeaked less!!! Hell, my garage door squeaks less! I’ve searched all over the Errornet, and there are dozens of “suggestions” as to how to eliminate said squeaking. However, I would tend to trust folks on this list a bit more than some of these “unknowns” on the net.
So - any suggestions as to how to get the darned thing quiet? Specifically - it is squeaking at the clip vs. leather interface. I don’t wear a T-shirt to tuck in there, and all of my daily wear shirts are Hawaiian style - so, again - nothing to tuck between the clip and the horsehide.
If its cowhide try treating it with a little mink oil and if its horside try some neetsfoot oil. Baby powder works but its a short term solution that needs to be reapplied.
silicone spray like you get in an auto parts store. it’s what Safariland recommends for the inside of their lined holsters. I use it on everything with a plastic interface and it works well…
I’ve had great success with felt coasters like the type you put on the bottom of a chair for hardwood floors. Stick it to the back of the steel clip between it and the leather, squeak stops.
I’ve had mine for over a year of daily wear and it still squeaks! I resorted to putting cloth medical tape on the leather where the metal clips rub. That has done the trick and the tape is holding up surprisingly well.
I’ve never had an issue with mine squeaking. Interesting to learn about this issue. I have a few friends getting them, I’ll see if theirs do it as well.
I’ve owned one in Horsehide for a year and change. It squeaked for a few days, but after a few sweaty summer nights it broke in. Not a peep or a squeak.
