For all of you Crossbreeders out there......

…No, not that kind of crossbreeding:)

As a hopeful, soon-to-be CCW newbie (IL, so I won’t get my hopes up too much), I just rec’d a new Crossbreed Supertuck holster. Upon initial examination and wearing around the house - it is AMAZINGLY comfortable! I can see why so many folks like them from that pov.

HOWEVER - I’ve ridden saddles that squeaked less!!! Hell, my garage door squeaks less! I’ve searched all over the Errornet, and there are dozens of “suggestions” as to how to eliminate said squeaking. However, I would tend to trust folks on this list a bit more than some of these “unknowns” on the net.

So - any suggestions as to how to get the darned thing quiet? Specifically - it is squeaking at the clip vs. leather interface. I don’t wear a T-shirt to tuck in there, and all of my daily wear shirts are Hawaiian style - so, again - nothing to tuck between the clip and the horsehide.

TIA - john

If its cowhide try treating it with a little mink oil and if its horside try some neetsfoot oil. Baby powder works but its a short term solution that needs to be reapplied.

silicone spray like you get in an auto parts store. it’s what Safariland recommends for the inside of their lined holsters. I use it on everything with a plastic interface and it works well…

I’ve had great success with felt coasters like the type you put on the bottom of a chair for hardwood floors. Stick it to the back of the steel clip between it and the leather, squeak stops.

It shouldn’t squeak at all once it’s properly broken in which takes me 2-4 weeks wearing it everyday, all day. I just broke in my 4th.

I’ve had mine for over a year of daily wear and it still squeaks! I resorted to putting cloth medical tape on the leather where the metal clips rub. That has done the trick and the tape is holding up surprisingly well.

I have one in horsehide and have been using it regularly for almost a year. It has never squeaked at all.

Have you called Crossbreed and asked them? Their service is so good I have to believe they would help.

Good luck.

I’ve had a horse hide one for 5+ years. No squeeks.

Mine came with little rubber washers between the clip and the leather. It doesn’t squeak at all.

I’ve never had an issue with mine squeaking. Interesting to learn about this issue. I have a few friends getting them, I’ll see if theirs do it as well.

Sound comes from where top of clip rubs on leather. Tucking excess t-shirt in there for now. Works til it pulls out. John

Call crossbreed.

I know when mine was new it squeaked like crazy. Just keep wearing it. When it breaks in itll be queit.

I’ve owned one in Horsehide for a year and change. It squeaked for a few days, but after a few sweaty summer nights it broke in. Not a peep or a squeak.

My horsehide broke in after 1 week of wearing it every day. It squeaked for maybe 3-4 days. No big deal.

Walking the dog (if you have a dog) is actually good for breaking it in. It also makes it easier to find that perfect position to carry.

Im in illinois too, I stopped allowing the state to tell me I cant protect myself a while ago.

Mine should finally be here at the end of the month. I can’t wait to try it out with my G27. Glad to hear you found it so comfortable.

I use one for my g27. It squeaked for a couple of days. It doesn’t now. Just wear it in.

Just wear it…it will conform like a glove, and age with good use.

I use the fuzzy side of Velcro patches, small pre-cut square patch on the leather side where the clips make contact. No more squeaks.

I customize mine a I’m sure many do. Best holster I’ve ever had. No squeeks, no movement.
