Nice. Likes, decent trigger, about 5 or 6 pounds, good finish, tight, good sights, good 8 round mag, series 70 action. Not like 2 tone, I like rubber grips, and they do not have a officer model slide out yet. Price $730, but was told it will come down in a month or so to $699. All in all when they come out with an officers model one will follow me home.

I got to look at one about two weeks ago–probably the first one in the state. I’m hardly in the market, as I got my first 1911 in 1960 and am pretty well fixed in that line–but I really liked it. Jeff Cooper would call some of the features “rooney”, and I can certainly do without the beavertail, go-fast hammer, and perforated trigger–but it seemed very well made and felt great in the hand. Excellent sights, and decent trigger. I hope it does well in the market.
At some point I will probably get one “just because” and see which of my kids falls in love with it.
I’d love to snag one of these on the pre-owned market for that famous Ruger market value, i.e. somewhere in the $450-$550 range. It looks promising even if the slide says “Ruger” instead of “1911-A1” and all that. ![]()
Is it investment cast or forged?
The frame is cast.
I got mine for $590.
Ok, I am officially jealous…and desirous of detail.
590 is pretty amazing. They are regularly priced at $650 in my area.
the more i look at the sr1911, the more i want it. It has almost all the features i would want in a 1911. All the upgrades that are practically standard in today’s 1911’s compared to the old GI models except it has a NON-ambi safety, no firing pin block, no front serrations, standard GI guide rod . The only thing i would want to change on it is front stap checkering and to put in a medium length trigger. Inbetween extended and GI length. Looks like a winner.
Ruger’s definately doing their homework eh? They’re bringing out some great products. SR9, LC9, LCR, LCP, SR9c, SR40 and now SR1911.
Sure…
I sent an e-mail to ever gun dealer in a thirty mile radius of my home and asked them each the same question: “What’s the best you can do for me on price?”
The guy I went with offered me the best price.
And that’s without famous Ruger market resell value! Sounds like you got a great deal! It’d be hard to pass up at that price new for me, too, if I had the cash in hand and was looking out for one. Good score, man!
I hope to see one of these locally before too long.
Hopefully it will prove itself to be a viable option in the 1911 market.
I bought the first(and only) one that my local dealer got in yesterday.
Took it down last night to clean and lube. I really like it so far. It’s just what I like in a 1911. Hope to shoot it later today, and am pretty confident that I’ll still be pleased, as the early reports on this piece have been very encouraging. I’ll report back.

Just to note; I shot the SR1911 today and was very pleased indeed.
Fed all my 230 gr FMJ-TC handloads smooth as silk. Then fed it a bag of very old Silver-Tips with same perfect results. I also had a bag of PMC 230 gr hollowpoints that have a VERY wide mouth, and a very flat, very sharp profile. Feeding was still perfect, with one lone exception. One of those sharp mouth edges caught the edge of the barrel just right and it took a little bump to complete the chambering. My preferred carry load of 230 gr Golden Sabers should be very much good to go, with the almost “hardball” like profile that they sport. Each load was much more accurate than I am, and sadly, that’s not saying much !
